This shoot had one thing on mind and that was catching the beautiful sunset. But when I saw this padlock it really captured just where I was.

37154 is moved past the staff accommodation in Rugby Yard.

A few years later, during EWS days and when I would be a signalman at Rugby PSB, I would visit these cabins on many occasions for a sociable cuppa with yard staff and drivers. The railway of 2024 is sadly rather different, however...

West Coast Route Modernisation, closure of Rugby Yard, the construction of Rugby Rail Operating Centre (ROC) and development off railway property means this scene also looks very different indeed today.

It was a bit of struggle with my dodgy knees and swollen ankles, but I had heard that quite a large section of the seafront is due to be closed for more than a year so I was determined to get there with Tim, JJ and Lina to get some 'before' photos of the area before it was too later. The total walk was a tiring 4 miles but we stopped for lunch along the way.

This is the poster explaining. It says:

Construction of new flood defences for the Southsea Coastal Scheme will start in this area in January 2022.

The promenade between Children's Corner (Blue Reef Aquarium) to the Pyramids will be closed until work is complete in late November 2023.

Colas Rail 66848 with out of sight 66846 at Malvern Wells at around 6.30pm on 22-5-21. This was a possession in order to replace some track and the point towards Colwall tunnel which controls access to the single line.

Yet another opportunity to take a photo featuring the Malvern Hills and the railway.

It's that time of year when they do the annual maintenance.

I had to take a photo of the sign to remember when I can walk over the bridge next week. I thought it was closed to pedestrians as well, but now realise I can go for my daily "2 bridges" walk as long as it's after 5pm!

After the closure of Leyton Engineer's Depot, services were transferred to Temple Mills Yard & on December 14th 1994, 33019 "Griffon" in Civil Engineers "Dutch" livery, departed at 1225 with 8O05, the 1311 Departmental service to Woking Up Yard.

I also didn't see this little globe lying on the floor, thank goodness I didn't step on it, but the picture looks like I was trying to!

An unusual site was observed nearby Normanby on the Ekka loop this Saturday as 2706 and 2309 pulled loaded coal train 9823 through the city. The sweep of 42 coal wagons detoured on its route from Camedy Downs by preforming 4 laps of the City loop beginning at Milton and through Roma St, Bowen Hills then exhibition, training for the Summer holiday track closures. Soon after the train crossed the Merivale and headed to her destination of Fishermen Island, an empty coal train departed port which did the same 4 loops of the city before continuing west.

The last time I'm aware a coalie visited the City was back in 2009 due to a points failure at Corinda. Then, the locos detached from their load and ran around the train using the loop.

Superclydes have also once again made their way onto the coal trains since their usual job of hauling grain is now over for the season. They do a lovely job at spicing up the consist. This is the first time a 2700 has led a coalie through the city.

The zipper fiasco could have been avoided. But Lucretia had discovered that parking herself by the refreshments allowed for varied interaction with some eligible gentlemen.

He was tall, dark, and while not overly handsome, more than acceptable. A conversaton ensued, nervous hands reached for snack items, (more than usual was consumed.) There was a joke, (or jokes) - - Lucretia doesn't remember, because the sound of tearing lace combined with her gay peals of laughter slapped her straight back into reality and made her regret those last two cupcakes.

After closure of Sakri - Jhanjharpur - Laukaha Bazar meter gauge section, massive rolling stock serving this section were kept at Sakri and Manigachi station. I was fortunate enough to visit Sakri. Former Public Market (1874-1876), it was the largest covered square in all of Europe and marked the start of Modernisme in Catalan architecture.

Restoration work started and stopped several times since the closure of market. Each successive city government had a different plan for the very large space. At some points, there were even plans to lease it to a retail establishment such as FNAC who had expressed interest.[1]

After closure, it fell into a state of disrepair and was restored 1977 to 1981 under the direction of Pere Espinosa.[2]

In 2002 work was started to install the Biblioteca Provincial de Barcelona, but during excavations, extensive ruins of the medieval city were discovered.[2] It was then decided to preserve the ruins and move the library project to another location.[3]

Currently, the market covers these archaeological ruins which were part of the la Ribera district that was demolished in the early eighteenth century after the defeat of Catalonia in the War of Succession in 1714. This portion of la Ribera was forcibly demolished to make way for the construction of the Ciutadella military structure as ordered by the new Spanish king, Philip V.[2]

The plan that finally came to fruition in 2013 was to expose the subterranean ruins for visitors while preserving space around the exterior of them for mixed use, cultural center, in addition to having a museum about the War of Succession onsite. At the same time, it is now possible for pedestrians to pass freely from Passeig del Born through to the other side that leads to the park of Ciutadella.[1]

The official inauguration of the restored market was September 11, 2013.

The transformation of the old market into a museum space was led by the study of Varis Arquitectes and executed by the UTE between Sapic, Croquis and Sono Audiovisual Technology. The project of integrated audiovisual systems includes both the exhibition spaces and other rooms and auditoriums of the center. In addition to various display media, such as projection and videowall, the center is equipped with simultaneous translation equipment and a control system to govern all elements.[4]

A1 Road is closed due to the fires in Flagstaff, Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Many elite runners drive up to 30 miles in order to use the beautiful tree-dotted 6-mile loop for their easy runs.

An upcoming closure of the Main South Line over the weekend prompted SSR to transfer some motive power from South West NSW towards Sydney for other work, which resulted in this very impressive combination.

The rain is finally here, causing road closure just around the corner from where we live. No one seems to mind however, since this much needed water has been long awaited here in cattle/pastoral country.
