Kansas State University will host its Beef Cattle and Forage Crops Field Day May 2 in Parsons, Kansas.
My wife found this butterfly near the front of our house. It must have just recently expired as it had not started to dry out. We carefully transferred it to a sheet of copy paper so I could make some close-up shots. While it is always sad to see one of these lovely creatures expired, it does give a chance to examine them close up and appreciate the intricate patterns and detail in their wings.

Van Gogh's "Olive Trees." Continuing the fun of snapping side shots of Van Gogh's paintings to show their brushwork.
Closeup of peony shot late in the day at ISO 5,000 with a Panasonic DMC-GH4 using 100-300mm lens + extension tubes. It was shot in RAW mode on a Panasonic DMC-GH4, but since Adobe doesn't support the GH4 RAW file format yet, I used the free program Be.HexEditor to replace the two occurrences of GH4 with GH3, then edited it normally using Adobe PSE 11. Be sure to save a copy of the RAW file BEFORE editing, since Be.HexEditor doesn't have a "Save As..." option.

Danny Petric.
What these eyes have seen in such a short life. Not long after his 16th birthday Daniel Petric of Wellington, Ohio was upset with his parents about not being allowed to play Halo 3 on his Xbox.
Daniel got a gun, told his parents, to close their eyes and shot them both in the head. His mother was killed with three shots while his father survived the attack when the 9mm round shattered his jaw and bounced off the shattered bone.
Tomorrow he faces the judge at the conclusion of his trial. He faces 23-life in prison. His father, grandfather, and sister have all asked that he be released to come home to the family who have all forgiven him.

The fur on his legs is finally starting to grow in. They were shaved because of the wounds he received in that nasty fight a month ago. He's been an indoor cat ever since, much to his dismay.
Just a close up of my christmas tree. Hope you like it!
