Look at this picture and see if you can spot the Assassin Bug in the flower. I never saw it when I shot the picture...only during processing. I wonder if it could capture the "wasp"?
Baby orangutan Redd, born Sept. 12, 2016, explores a tub of bubbles with his mother, Batang, in the Think Tank exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
Dug out an old Canon 250D close-up lens and put it on the end of a Fujinon XF 35 f1.4 R to see its semi-macro capabilities.
I even like this piece closer up..... I think its going well..... Maybe when (if) if ever dries I can even photo the entire thing!
With my eye issues I've had to really alter the way I paint. Its been a stretching experience. I've gone from tiny detailed pen and ink and detailed digital photography and painting actual things to abstract art.
Not that I don't wish I wasn't having eye surgery soon but I will say that having to do things that you never thought to do is a good exercise.
This is a small piece of a work in progress. Its a 2 foot by 2 foot piece of wood (thank you M :) I Put a thin coating of tissue paper on it, crinkly and uneven... Than painted it in neutrals. The bright colors are acrylics mixed with a liquid medium splattered all over in a fairly over all way. The background isn't covered though and there was alot of neutral left over...
The black is a house paint I had laying around. Semi-gloss I think and that spattered much much better, I must say. And shines nicely.
Because I can't see very well Im working with color and composition more than strokes... and flinging the paint around was fun -- albeit messy. This is a small section because it's pretty wet. There is an even larger section right next door.
I'm thinking it doesn't totally suck -- than again, I am having surgery on both eyes in the next month and can't read anymore. So, it could entirely suck.

The last traditional greengrocer in the Acomb shopping area closed yesterday. A popular shop, providing fresh produce from local suppliers and serving a large population in west York, but unable to survive.

Trying to add more to my "close-up" set, I shot this flower in the living room of my in-laws. Not entirely happy with the outcome, I just wanted to stick to my '1 upload a week' plan.
so close but yet so far. I think for this squirrel it's more about the challenge of getting into this hanging feeder. There is another feeder not far away set up for the squirrels but this wise guy I think is just trying to piss me off. He's all like I got this just another inch or two and and I'm in.he didn't make but the little trouble maker did manage to spill it all out on the ground.
Sea urchins all piled up in a box in Hugh Town on St Mary's , in the Isles of Scilly. I was away for a while so decided to keep an open mind and take lots of pictures and see what I liked. I played with some macro shots and this is one of the better ones.

Camera Details:
1980-s era QL17-GIII with stuck shutter and stuck timer serviced by Alex Bonarski (rangefindercamera on ebay). Within three weeks he had fully CLAed (including timer cleaning and battery update) , replaced a defective lens element (for which he had spares to sell) and returned the camera with a one year warranty. Highly recommended!
A cleaned up version from the first one. I think it looks better like this. The 'wash' is gone and the colors are better to my opinion.
