Lucky, another close look at this shying friend at the park area.
Also, got a video before he is hidden again....
This one got fairly close to where we were standing - so nice to be able to see it like this! At this range it's not so hard to identify. But when I first saw them two years prior, they were distant, and I was told by some birders we encountered that the Red-throated Loons tend to angle their bills upward, like you can see here, while the Common Loons hold them horizontally.
I noticed on this trip that these have a "daintier" appearance as well.

I made this quilt for Sean's head mistress as per her request. She has a modern, Urban Outfitters taste so I whipped this up with some of my favorite modern fabrics. I love it!!
