A photographer forgetting about photography - shot taken by Dr Mike Gocman (he was trying to feed me to her Majesty's swans who, after all, were not amused).
This swallowtail appears to have had a close call at some point - in an at-rest position. At least it's still balanced! In our yard, checking out one of my wife's flower pots.
Kanga was always around me, but since she is smaller than the other squirrels, had to watch out, too (Squirrels-2021-6359.jpg)
Back to familiar places and favorite subjects... Our world seems to be, once again full of uncertainties and unhappy things... like rising gas prices and looming food shortages. It's exhausting. Familiar places that I love make me happy. Staying close to home again.... it's cheaper that way!
Whilst our Mallorcan inlander/highlander Flickr friends continue to find and photograph wonderful mushrooms, down here at Palma sea level, we are closing up the show for this season. This one was one of very few left in the forest this morning.
Ci si chiude alle spalle il cancellato dell'infanzia, e si entra in un giardino di incanti. Persino la penombra qui brilla di promesse. A ogni svolta il sentiero ha le sue sensazioni.
Wittnauer up Close one of the few watches I have found in buying odd boxes of things, this one is vintage, found in North Carolina.

On a Saturday afternoon most shops close their doors by 4.00. The clock tells us why shoppers are hurrying away with their purchases as the low sun casts a golden glow over St John Street.
Sometimes the subject can get almost too close especially when using a 500mm prime lens. All things considered, I was pleased with this photo of the male Summer Tanager.
This is a full frame shot of an encounter I had with a coyote. It was trotting directly towards me not knowing I was there behind my camera and tripod but I didn't have a clear shot until it was only a few yards away when it briefly came partially in the open allowing me only a few frames before it realized I was right in front of him, then without stopping, it quickly turned and ran off. It's not the best shot as far as composition goes with the ears and nose cut off but I never thought it would get this close! This is the only decent frame I got.
Hiking around on Anchorage manage to find a trail that get me close to this tow boats. Scary waters by the way.

A beautiful Zebra in Windsor Safari on Wednesday. Had a lovely day with my son and grandkids in spite of the chilly wet weather.
This Northern Parula, finally gave way, after this showdown,as this huge Longhorn beetle inched it,s way down the perch. He didn,t want nothing to do with it!
I have shot this same (not) bluebell (but hyacinth) yesterday, though with different cameras and lenses. Today I am using the Helios 44M-7 at approx. F11 and 2x tele converter. Parts of this combo could be called vintage. But I am really happy with its performance. When my wife saw this image, she knew that what I had found in the garden was not a bluebell, but a hyacinth.
