Sometimes my photos require “Getting Close” to the subject physically. Lying on top of pile of leaves or wading in shallow waters. Remaining always safe there’s not much I haven’t tried yet to “Get That Shot, lol” From the top of the Empire State Building in NYC to a Native American Celebration in New Mexico and many cool places in between. Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) Taking photos of the Aurora from a moving boat is quite tricky! I was pleased with this one though as it reminded me of the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. You can also clearly see the stars known as The Plough or The Big Dipper in the centre of the image!

Vicars' Close, in Wells, Somerset, England, is claimed to be the oldest purely residential street with original buildings surviving intact in Europe John Julius Norwich calls it "that rarest of survivals, a planned street of the mid-14th century" It comprises numerous Grade I listed buildings, comprising 27 residences (originally 44), built for Bishop Ralph of Shrewsbury, a chapel and library at the north end, and a hall at the south end, over an arched gate. It is connected at its southern end to the cathedral by way of a walkway over Chain Gate.

Bird activity was relatively quiet following the abundant rain and flooding along the East Coast of NSW.

This is a close-up photo of lichen and wood grain patterns in the root of a driftwood tree at Clam Harbour Beach. The lichen details are best seen full-screen.

A photographer forgetting about photography - shot taken by Dr Mike Gocman (he was trying to feed me to her Majesty's swans who, after all, were not amused).
The rain clouds and mist closing in over the mountain tops looking down the Nant Ffrancon Pass, Snowdonia as the winding river travels to the sea.
A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I went camping in Cunningham Gulch north of Silverton, CO, with some friends. The San Juans had just got their first dusting of snow on the mountain peaks and we were going to explore the Alpine Loop. It was fantastic weather, plenty of early fall colors with the bonus of snow tipped peaks. The overnight low the first night reached the low 20s, but the next day reached into the upper 60s. The one thing that would be the cherry on top to this trip was seeing a moose.
So, just as our day was coming to its conclusion, this guy appeared on the edge of a meadow near Howardsville, and he was kind enough to allow me a few snaps. but, he was pretty clear that I had come close enough.
