The gong. It's the thing you notice, especially your first morning when you are woke by the 5am bells going off and then every 15 minutes after!!! There was a church next to my hotel and a tram in front, both started at 5am. 7am they do a special extended bell ringing just to make sure you didn't miss your wake up call. I guess Swiss hotels don't have to make wake up calls unless it's before 5am.
Last time when I was at the clocktower I just made some closeup shots ... here you can see how beautyful it is ...

The Newbury Clock Tower - or Clock House - was first built in 1889 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee two years earlier; in 1929 it is replaced with the present Clock House. Each of the three sides, above the clock face, displays a different date. This side shows G. IV. R. 1825 - probably referring to King George IV who reigned from 1820-1830.
