Hunslet, Leeds, West Yorkshire. In 1888, TF Braime started his metal pressing company, and was later joined by JH Braime. After the international success of their oil can, they moved here in 1911, and as well as making parts for the motor car industry, they played an active role in both world wars, making artillery cases in the 1940's. Their factory retains many original features, and have very recently had a significant increase in orders, needing to start a night shift this September.

The Hereios asked for clocks today which meant convincing my wonderful husband to pull down his antique clock from its resting place way above my head.

What better to go with an antique than something relatively new?

This little guy is three weeks old and the runt of our litter. We're calling him Muffin for now, but truth be told he's struggling. Hopefully this will remain a sweet baby picture and not a memorial, but only time will tell. (Pun not intended.)

Tried to make it look a little like a pencil drawing without using a pencil filter. Did it work?

The clock tower is 92m high, with the observation platform at 76m. For many years the clock tower was the tallest structure in Brisbane, and as such it was fitted with a red beacon at its apex to warn aircraft of its location.

The mechanism to produce the cuckoo call was installed in almost every kind of cuckoo clock since the middle of the eighteenth century and has remained almost without variation until the present.

The Old Waller County Courthouse Clock and Bell - Hempstead, TX.

The clock tower provides a permanent home for the 1894 bell & clock which

were functional adornments to the old Waller County Texas Courthouse.

According to the historical society, the Seth Thomas clock and bell were

installed in the original courthouse in the summer of 1894. The bell was cast

at the McShane Bell Foundry in Baltimore. The mechanism operating the clock

was powered by 1,300 pounds of weights suspended from pulleys. In 1947, an

electric motor was installed to drive the clock and bell. The courthouse was

demolished in 1954, but the clock and the bell were saved. The bell continued

to tone above the current courthouse until the 1970s when the mechanism

controlling the bell broke and was not repaired. The bell was restored in 1991

and the clockworks were restored in the 1990s. The clock and bell tower

construction began in 2004, but sat idle until last year when Jackie Craver,

volunteer coordinator of the project for the Waller County Historical Society

volunteered to spearhead the fundraising effort to finish the project.

Thursday, December 23, 2010. By Joe Southern - Years after the project was

started and months of dormancy since the last improvements were made,

the Waller County Clock and Bell Tower has been bustling with activity in the

past week as the copper dome was mounted on top and the historic bell

refurbished and replaced. Workers with MCT Sheet Metal installed the lower

roof in the tower and then on Saturday hoisted the 3 ½-ton copper dome on top.

On Monday, the 1894 bell was returned to its spot under the dome. It took about

an hour of maneuvering for workers to get the 700-pound brass bell into place.

Tuesday morning had crews installing the clapper and the clockworks are due

to be installed in the next week or two. "Way to go Jackie Craver!!!!"
