Today, Day 6 of my 20 day self challenge I take a pause from landscapes to share this image. Music often Hijacks our perception of time, making it longer, making it pass quicker, distorting and bending it in varied tempos, directlng the way we dance, celebrate or mourn. This violin Clock in the possession of a friend seems to express this better than words.
This 19th century clock stands on the promenade, counting the minutes, and providing some seating, for the old, infirm, and hoody-clad ne'er-do-wells of the town.
This clock exists because way back when it was planned to open a public library in Morecambe. A councillor collected contributions from a variety of donors to build the library. The problem was the ongoing running of the place - it would require a halfpenny added to everyone's rates (local taxes) which was a step too far, apparently.
So, what to do with the accumulated donations? Easy - build a clock tower!

This shot has been done so many times in so many different ways, its hard to get an original take on it.
I recently saw a contact of mine upload his version and he boldly stated that 'you cant be a serious London photographer if you don't have this shot'.
I like to think i'm a serious London photographer.
Thank You for taking the time to look, your comments are greatly appreciated.
If you wander up the Hohen Markt street in Vienna’s centre at the top of the hour, expect to see a crowd of people peering up expectantly at an insurance building. The object of their fascination: a clock called the Ankeruhr.

Sorry about all the dandelion shots ... lockdown means still lifes, or garden shots, or ... still lifes in the garden!!! Yesterday, I was experimenting with different manual focus lenses ... hence all the dandelion shots.

Dad hand-crafts these special clocks for special people. This one, completed this past weekend, is particularly beautiful.

Last day in Praha, Sunday morning ans we decided to take in the view point high above the Old Market. I love this view and have enjoyed it before, but on this day was even more special seeing my Aunt Mary and Uncle Frank get a chance to explore Prague from up above. Perfect morning for it too. <3
Go early to beat the crowds...kind of.

The famous “Binns Clock” on the corner of Princes Street and Hope Street in Edinburgh has been restored. The building used to be occupied by the department store Binns which was taken over by House of Fraser in 1953. The clock was installed in 1960 and was an iconic meeting place. The Frasers store closed in 2018 and the building is currently being converted into the Johnnie Walker Experience. The clock restoration work was carried out by the Cumbria Clock Company who also repaired the musical mechanism which plays traditional Scottish tunes every half an hour as the kilted figures march out of the clock. In keeping with tradition, the Highland figures will emerge to the musical accompaniment every seven and 37 minutes past the hour.
I caught the sun striking directly on the clock tower for a brief moment.
Tried out an edit to give it a little more mystery. Not sure I love this edit but always good to try new things.
