A working ball clock built out of LEGO. I had one of these bad boys growing up, and despite the colossal noise it made I thought it was super cool. I finally got around to building a version out of LEGO.
I actually runs surprisingly well, and the LEGO version is much less noisy than the real thing.

While waiting for the Harvest Moon to rise, I captured a few images of the fall colors around the clock tower.
Using my Christmas lights draped over my wall clock in the spare room. Just trying something different with my photography until the dark nights have pulled out. For this image the only light in the room is from the white Xmas lights and a little fill-in light from my phone on the face of the clock. The wallpaper is homage to my love of books. I have hundreds of books - although I need to find time to read them all and not just look at them on the shelves.
Alarm clock with a piece of German shell embedded in the dial. The clock was damaged during the bombardment of the Hartlepools on 16th December 1914. It is said that the clock stopped at the time of the shell hitting it. The clock belonged to a resident at 14 Collingwood Road but is now part of the collections at the Museum of Hartlepool and is on permanent display. Ironically the clock was manufactured in Germany. There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

This is an older photo, that I had put away initially because the background isn`t really good.
Suddeny I ran on this sim when i was looking for ... clocks, to complete my initial idea. I havent really succeded but I had took this photo to remember this place where the clocks rule.

The McKee Clock in Bangor, County Down. It was built in 1915 and is named for the local person who donated a large sum towards its construction.
Mersey Ferries Seacombe Ferry Terminal on reopening day – October 17, 2022. The terminal had been closed for refurbishment since November 2020.

Seacombe Ferry and omnibus terminus was constructed between 1930-3 to designed by L St G Wilkinson, the Wallasey Borough Surveyor for the municipally owned Wallasey Ferries and Corporation Motors. These were incorporated into the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive (MPTE) in 1969 with the combined Birkenhead and Wallasey Ferries being rebranded as Mersey Ferries. Following bus deregulation The MPTE became Merseytravel.
Comprises brick with Portland stone dressings; tiled roofs. Two ranges, one of a single story parallel to the Mersey containing booking and entrance halls, the other returning, of two storeys, containing waiting rooms, workshops and offices which are now being repurpsed as the Eureka Science attraction due to open in 2023.
Both ranges connected by a loggia (defining two sides of a courtyard bus station), supported by paired Doric columns. The riverside range with deep hipped roof and monumental central clock tower, the latter slightly tapering to upper courses, the clock faces over ventilation slits contained within superordinate arches, the stepped plinth, with stripped classical detailing, of stone; all this over a broken pedimented projecting entrance block (all stone) with tall round-headed arch.
Loggia of 3-bays to either side with clerestory windows containing iron chevron- patterned glazing bars. The return range of eleven bays, similarly fenestrated to both ground and 1st floors, with doors treated in the same manner. Outer bays with overhanging eaves; central bays with stepped parapets surmounted by urns and central flagstaff over municipal coat of arms.
Contemporary fittings include bronze lamps. Interior: hall with massive unadorned round-headed arches of three orders (to front range); tie-rod roof; part-glazed.
Several contemporary features include ticket offices with chevron and other art-deco style glazing patterns. A fine restrained composition in the simplified classical style popular at the time. Historical note: the first commercial shore- based Radar station in the world for the navigation of ships was installed at the Seacombe Terminal buildings in 1947.

An old circular clock with Roman numerals marked the time in the lobby of The Caledonian Hotel. Late in the afternoon, chandelier crystals reflected onto the clock face, distorting the view but not obscuring it entirely. The subtle tension between precise timekeeping and reflective beauty caught my attention, a sight which I found alluring.

The clock tower was built in 1720 and remained so until 1887-88 when it was remodelled to commemorate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. £200 was to be raised by public voluntary subscription for the clock to be built, and the final amount came to £227, 7 shillings and 6 pence. The clock was lit by gas until the mid 1920s when electric took over. Quoted from The Way Marking website.
The Clock Tower on Morecambe’s Marine Road Central is one of the town’s smaller but more distinctive landmarks. It symbolises the late-Victorian and Edwardian expansion of the town in terms of population and facilities, adding to its growing reputation as a major seaside resort. The Tower was installed on the seafront next to the Central Pier and around half a mile from the Winter Gardens and Harbour.
‘Promenading’ was a common pastime for visitors who might need to know the time – meal times at their boarding house or the times of shows – but not have a watch. As the photographs at the end of this leaflet show, this was a bustling part of Morecambe. Usefully, public toilets were right next to the Clock Tower (underground and with a landscaped roof area). They have been rebuilt at ground level.
The Tower’s story starts with the generosity of Alderman and then Mayor John Robert Birkett JP who had pledged £400 of his own money (nearly £50,000 in 2020 value) to part-fund a public library for Morecambe. This plan fell through when the Council refused to raise the rates to pay for its upkeep. Birkett then switched his donation to the construction of a Clock Tower. He made his proposal formally to the Council in March 1905 with the aim of ‘opening’ the Clock Tower on 22 July.
The Tower was designed by Cressey and Keighley, a short-lived architectural practice on Euston Road, Morecambe. It was built by Messrs Edmundson. The clock was made by Rhodes of Lancaster and there is an internal vertical ladder within the Tower to give access to the clock mechanism.
There is a memorial and foundation stone laid by the Mayor’s wife on 24 June 1905. After very rapid construction, the Tower was declared ready on 6 September 1905 and the clock was illuminated for the first time two days later. Oddly there was no formal opening or unveiling ceremony.
There was an objection to the Tower’s location from a neighbour who said it would damage his view but this was overruled. One councillor did not approve of so much building on the seaward side of the Promenade. An alderman thanked the Mayor for his generosity but recalled the criticisms made while it was being built. The month after it was opened, there was a debate in the Council about whether they could afford to illuminate the four clock faces. The Mayor’s generosity did not extend to its running costs.
In practice the Mayor’s £400 did not buy the town all that much Tower. It is only 46 feet tall (14 metres). It is built in a striking design of red brick with buff sandstone banding and dressing. There used to be benches around the base between the four corner buttresses, each with a roof to give sheltered seating, but these have been lost.
The Tower was partly functional – to give the time to those without watches – and partly to decorate the Promenade. The Central Pier next door and much else of Morecambe in its heyday have disappeared. The Clock Tower remains.
