Took a class this weekend at Mercury Mosaic's in Minneapolis. I've never worked with clay tiles before, it was very different from stained glass. Lots of fun! This was also the first time I smeared glue over a large area and transferred my tiles. A lot of my original design got lost towards the end and I was just sticking stuff where ever it fit. I much prefer gluing each piece individually.

This is one of my latest creations, funky cute flowers from clay, it all started by making buttons which became flowers later on! Anyway, those little babies are so adorable and freshen up the mood when you look at them!

Due to the immense amount of foliage, this is the best photo I've ever been able to get of the Clay County Courthouse. In the Spring and Summer, a photo of the courthouse is all but impossible.
The only birds I saw were the clay-colored sparrows and they were tending to their young.
Thanks everyone for your views, comments and faves! They are all appreciated!

A 2 x 2.5 inch streaked clay piece that has been impressed with a paper stencil to create texture. It was covered with silver embossing powder prior to curing. After it was cured, I used 600 grit sandpaper to wear off just enough embossing powder to give it an antiqued look. Kato Clay.

These faux stone beads were made from scraps of faux wood mix made from burnt orange and translucent clay that I chopped up and rolled just enough to stick together. Then I covered it with black Pearlex powder and made sure it got into the cracks. The layered discs are circles cut in various sizes and cured over an inverted aluminum paint palate, accented with a light dusting of black Pearlex powder. After curing, I polished it with 600 grit wet dry sandpaper and buffed with a muslin wheel.
After many trips to Cornwall over the years I finally got to attempt the classic Golant shot. Sadly, after a day of unbridled sunshine, the cloud rolled over around 20 mins before the train arrived. There were also a couple of large white vans parked in front of the boats, which meant nipping off the lower part of the frame.

I came across a lovely painting on Pintrest and decided to make it in clay. First I made subtle blends using strips of blues, greens and purples in the surrounding twilight. Appropriately, I used flame shapes in the circular sun. I like the overall effect, although had trouble keeping a smooth surface with all the manipulation of the clay making the tree and sun.

These beads are Ultralight inside wrapped with a fun mokume gane made from one of my texture plates. The burlap effect was made using drywall fabric with additional patterns made using a fine pointed instrument. Before curing, I coated the entire bead with black and gold PearlEx powder. After curing, I sanded off the excess powder (learned this technique from Rebecca Watkins) Made during the PPCG (Pittsburgh Polymer Clay Guild) Retreat
