Bharatanatyam is a South Indian classical dance form. Originating in the temples of India, its initial purpose was to narrate and teach. This performance is a devotional dance in praise of the mythological Lord Ganesha in which dancers describe specific attributes of his character.

Probably the most bewildering of all the classical Chinese gardens in Suzhou, the Lion Grove Garden leaves many visitors in a state of confused shock. The Chinese love to use contorted and distorted rocks in there gardens. These often give hints of mythical mountains or animals. The Lion grove garden takes this to the extreme. Hundreds of rocks cover the garden. It is said that many rocks resemble parts of lions or tigers, hence the name. The garden was built in 1342 by a Buddhist monk called Wen Tianru in memory of his teacher Abbot Zhongfeng.

3/4 size classical guitar made by Montana Guitars

When my daughter was born (12 years ago) I would play my guitar for her and she would fall asleep. I would keep on playing until she woke up again and we would start the process over. The songs I wrote during this time were some of my first. Later on I bought her this child sized classical guitar which she dabbled with but she took a liking to the clarinet and is playing that in her school’s band. Of course her guitar is around the house and I pick it up and pluck out tunes when the mood strikes. I am now the proud father of a baby boy and the tradition of playing music for the baby continues. My son loves the guitar and the songs I sing to him. If he doesn’t like it he will let me know and I will change the tune till it pleases him.

Songwriting is a very personal exercise and my family means a lot to me so they work there way into my songs. My 8 year old step-son has taken a liking to bluegrass music and just bought a Jimmy Martin CD while he was in Nashville with his Grand Parents. The Montana guitar is special because it belongs to my daughter and has been a part of many songwriting sessions with her and my sons! Maybe one day my daughter will take the guitar and write a song but until then ill keep putting it to good use and keep it in tune.

That reminds me of the Classic streets of London :) ... [btw, I've never been to UK, but thats the image I've got in my mind... :P]

Built in 1908, this Classical Revival-style house was designed by Andrews, Jaques and Rantoul for Thomas Taylor, Jr., president of the Taylor Manufacturing Company. In 1950, the house was expanded and converted into the home of the Columbia Museum of Art, and a Science Museum wing was constructed to connect the main house and the carriage house. The house features a red flemish bond brick exterior, a central wing with a hipped red terra cotta tile roof with modillions at the copper-clad eaves, copper gutters, stone trim, a stone base, one-over-one double-hung windows, a two-story front portico with fluted corinthian columns, a coffered ceiling, and a hipped roof, a front entrance door with decorative sidelights, a decorative trim surround with fluted doric pilasters and a broken pediment, a hipped rear ell, and one-story wings to the east and west of the main wing, with low-slope roofs enclosed by parapets, simple cornices, and arched bays. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and was rehabilitated in 2016-2017 by the University of South Carolina as part of the construction of the adjacent Joseph F. Rice School of Law building. The mansion today houses the University of South Carolina Police Department.

Mohiniattam-The dance of the enchantress

This Indian classical dance form – Mohiniattam – comes from one of the South states of India, Kerala. And the mere mention of Kerala brings up in one’s mind the wondrous and incomparable beauty of its landscape .The scenic backwaters where the palm fronds fill up the Kerala skyline moving gently and gracefully in the breeze, the boats bobbing up and down gently, gracefully and in perfect tune with nature and its rhythm .

Ruhan started her musical training early, learning the piano at the age of four. Since then, her major performance credits include Damon Albarn’s Chinese rock-opera Monkey: Journey To The West, the theme song for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Dao Zai Fan Ye on Christopher Tin’s 2011 double Grammy award winning album, Calling All Dawns (Best Classical Crossover & Best Instrumental Arrangement).

The classical Cerberus didn’t play a great role in diabolic iconography despite the recuperation of classical thought in modern times. In reality, the use of a dog to represent the devil, much less frequent than that of flies, cats and goats, came about at the height of urban life when country beasts were abandoned and hence domestic animals were demonised.

This Satan turned into a dog, which appears defeated at the feet of St. Michael is one of the best recreations of the figure. It is a Navarre sculpture from the middle of the 16th century whose present whereabouts are not known.
