BR Standard Class 7 Pacific No.70000 'Britannia' runs round at Yarwell on 16th March 2025, during its second stint of 'Best of British' weekend services on the Nene Valley Railway.

Built at Crewe in 1951, No.70000 was the first of the 999 BR Standard steam locomotives to be completed, and the first in the 55-strong Class 7 fleet. The Class 7s combined various elements from Big Four design practices to provide a powerful and versatile two-cylinder Pacific design, with a lighter axle loading and an emphasis on ease of maintenance.

This is Britannia Class, Oliver Cromwell seen in Edinburgh Waverley after one of the Great Britain charter runs, in 2012.

Edinburgh Waverley was undergoing a major overhaul, with masses of scaffolding to repair the roof and it's glass, with extra added platforms etc.

Dure to this, the lighting looks slightly unusual around the loco.

Artwork postcard depicting a L&YR Class 7 4-4-2 locomotive (known as a 'High-Flyer' on account of the high boiler pitch) on an express.

Built between 1899 and 1902, they passed to the LMS as Class 2P and all were withdrawn between 1926 and 1934.
