Class 12 0-6-0 diesel-electric shunters 15219 and 15232 alongside the former Tonbridge steam motive power depot on 31st May 1970, with the filled-in turntable pit in the right foreground. Planned prior to nationalisation, they were built by BR Ashford Works (15219 in 1949 and 15232 in 1951). The Bulleid-design 'Firth Brown' 1930s-design disc driving wheels are evident. Both shunters were withdrawn during the following year, 15219 in October 1971 and 15232 in April 1971. 15219 was cut up by Cashmore of Newport in May 1972 and 15232 at Swindon Works in February 1972.

Class 12 15228 stands over the pit in the old steam shed at Tonbridge sometime in 1968. Built at Ashford in 1951 15228 was withdrawn just a year after this photo was taken, it's non standard design and the lack of train braking facilities probably led to it's short life.
