Early morning storms dim the city of Denver and Amtrak's California Zephyr train #5 as it makes its way up-grade on Union Pacific's Moffat Subdivision

At the annual Conrail RailBQ this intermodal train was zipping along on the Pittsburgh line.

While we cross Robert’s street, we pass M-LAUMIS3-16A and RMON8401 sit next to each other in the yard; MRL 109 begins to shove back into the east end of the yard to begin work.

A mixed freight heads into Enola Yard. I think this one came off of the Buffalo line.

As a modeler of trains I love finding mixed or unique fonts such as the number boards on the trailing unit. Zoom in to check it out.

The morning rain made for slick rails and the 611 was crawling, but she conquered the grade in Linden, VA on the former Southern RR mainline.

Just after the Amtrak Pennsylvanian went past this NS high rail vehicle made a quick pass for a maintainer to inspect the track. They were likely checking for heat kinks on all three lines which pass Cove.

After taking the photo and zooming in on details, I noticed the truck hasn't passed PA state vehicle inspection in a while. Their sticker expired in May of 2023.

Blackwood Station, in the foothills of Adelaide is a heritage listed, working station, with the only signal box of its kind remaining in the state of South Australia. The building is a Class1 SAR station. The station is made of sandstone, so it survived a fire and was subsequently restored in the 1980s. There is now a breezeway through the middle of the building, courtesy of the fire.

With my recently rebuilt garden railroad an inspection of the line was needed to show it off to local officials so the Norfolk Southern Office Car Special was pressed into service and was the first train of any kind to run on the whole new mainline.

Pic of me out photographing trains on the Pittsburgh line.

My wife spent this summer sewing patches onto a jean jacket and I think the results are pretty nice. I have to track down a few more patches to get it looking perfect.

Eastbound intermodal freight as seen in 590nm IR running along the Susquehanna with the Clarks Ferry Bridge seen on the right.

The Aberlemno I, class I Pictish symbol stone, also called the Serpent Stone. There are five Pictish symbols on one face visible from the roadside. From the top:

(a) the serpent

(b) the double disc

(c) the Z-rod and

(d) a mirror and comb.

The meaning of these symbols commonly carved by the Picts is unknown. Strangely the missionaries or scribes from the Celtic church did not record the meaning in their texts even though Celtic christian crosses were engraved on one side of the class II symbol stones or cross slabs.

The other face of the stone exhibits prehistoric cup marks on the opposite face. This indicates it was reused by the Picts.

The Aberlemno 3, class II Pictish symbol stone, also called the Great Stone. The ornate Celtic cross is impressive with two angels either side, one reading a book.

A hunting scene and the double disc Pictish symbol is visible on the opposite face which is not visible from the roadside. Three trumpeters are also visible.

The meaning of these symbols commonly carved by the Picts is unknown.

Strangely the missionaries or scribes from the Celtic church did not record the meaning of the symbols in their texts. This was even more strange as Celtic christian crosses were engraved on one side of the class II symbol stones or cross slabs.

Local PC06 out of Charlotte sits tied down over the weekend in Huntersville, NC with an aging Southern High Hood on point.

The "original" NS heritage unit, NS 8114, leads this westbound intermodal as the sun sets on this fine day of fall railfanning.

NS 41N comes down from lamberts point into portlock with 30 loaded coal car. Im not sure why this happen because 41N is normally a grain train? My guess is that its probably a batch of bad orders but who knows.

CSX I031 cuts through the train day crowd in Ashland, Virginia. CSX 3138 is seen here escaping outside of the town with its cut of single stacks on its way to Jacksonville.

CSX L397 working the small "yard" in Seneca, Illinois, on the former Rock Island.

BNSF H-NTWBRC pulls through St. Croix Jct behind a NTWGAL. July 2020

The star of Roanoke looks down upon South yard, a very common spot for NS unit trains to park over night. Speaking of stars, we see two in the picture with one wearing a very well know paint scheme.

CSXT M409-24 is creeping past BX junction in Petersburg, Virginia with CSX 1899 leading into Collier yard with a bunch of trash to drop off. At the tie of posting this 1899 is are 13th Heritage unit from CSX and is only 3 week old when this picture was taken. This day was also a crazy day to railfan the A-line/RF&P.

This former Southern Pacific AC4400 took the lead solo on this eastbound CPKC sand train after ditching the trailing KCS SD70MAC.

There was a DPU so this lone unit wasn't responsible for all of the tonnage.

NS 203 crossing over Wells Viaduct (milepost 550.0) in Toccoa, GA

A string of autoracks speeds past this waiting NS Dash 9 on my G Scale garden railroad.

The engineer sure looks happy in the cab despite the delays.

The Dash9 loco is from Aristocraft and the autoracks are from USATrains. All of the track is stainless steel and is outside all year.

CSX I031 is making up for time and is hailing into North Carolina with CSX 1869 leading the way to Jacksonville, Florida. Glad I was able to capture this guy for a second time. I was not happy at all with my previous picture of the 1869 and glad I was able to redeem myself.

CSX #63 sits outside of South Norfolk waiting for the NPBL draw bridge to drop to head into Berkeley.

CP 685 climbs the grade just east of Cottage Grove, MN on the BNSF St. Paul Subdivision with a freshly rebuilt SD70ACU in the lead. In the distance is a small portion of the 3M Headquarters plant. May 2020

With are finally chase of BNSF L-MON8211-15A ending here in Livingston, Montana, it crawls into the yard while crossing the Bennett St crossing.

I recently made a trip out to Altoona and back. It took a few days to soak in the many stops, but I started my trip in Mexico, PA. A small farming town near Port Royal, PA.

I caught this single EMD leader on a nice manifest freight. I captured some nice graffiti on this train as it rolled past me.

Yes, I saw the "graffiti" done by cleaning something into the dirt on the nose of the loco. LOL
