I am no too crazy about this series. I wanted movement and green but I didn't really know what I wanted and it shows I think. I'll go back there someday soon and get it right.

A caterpillar found by someone else and held by my son ... I have many collaborators. Taken at Boyce Thompson Arboretum near Superior, Ariz.
This is a common tiny flowers found on the grass patches.
It is no bigger than 1 x 1 cm in size. The shape of it is actually interesting, like clapping the hands above the head.
I enjoy going out, catching some good music and drunkenly talking to strangers about weird crap.
Friday night was me asking about the music scene in Calgary, inquiring about all ages shows (apparently there aren't many here) and just generally being a creepbag.
Nights of drunken beligerence are a lot less embarrassing in a big city.
We took a little walk in the woods the other day. It was so windy--whenever the wind would blow- down came a ton of leaves. She thought it was "raining leaves". So magical in her own little fairy world. :)
Here's a short clip of the face of a banded blue morpho (Morpho achilles).
You see those fuzzy little "arms" on each side of the proboscis? Those are called labial palps (or palpi). There are multiple theories about what their purpose is, from serving as tasting organs, to protecting the probocis when curled up or perhaps to keep the compound eyes clean when it is feeding.
Since I had the camera on a tripod when I took this, I decided to try capturing a short video with the macro rig instead of just whipping out the smartphone.
This resulted in this neat little clip where you can see the butterfly moving those - I can't decide if they look like it's clapping it's hands or doing an impression of the Scared smiley.
