The strange thing to me is that while the focus isn't great, the shadow along the handle makes the focus look much worse.
Built in 1922-1923, this Beaux Arts-style building was designed by Reynold Hinsdale to serve as a residential hotel known as the Park Lane Hotel. The building features a rusticated limestone base three stories tall, buff brick cladding above the base, a slate-covered mansard roof with copper flashing and copper-clad gabled and oxeye or Oeil-de-boeuf dormers, urns at the base of the atop the corners of the building and ends of the six-story bay windows, a cornice with modillions and dentils above an architrave with decorative sculptural reliefs, one-over-one double-hung windows and casement windows with juliet balconies, limestone trim, including recessed spandrel panels, cartouches, corbels, and festoons, a two-story entrance wing on the north side of the building with arched window openings, multi-faceted side bays, fluted corinthian pilasters, and a rooftop balustrade, two landscaped courtyards flanking the central wing of the building, and quoins at corners of the building and flanking the bay windows. Inside, the building features an intact grand ballroom with ionic columns, decorative trimwork, a second-story balcony, a ceiling with beams, with the north podium housing a room with a terrazzo floor, fluted corinthian pilasters, a decorative cornice, and a balcony with a cast iron railing. The building is a contributing structure in the Wade Park District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The building underwent a series of changes throughout its history, beginning as an upscale luxury residential hotel with amenities provided to the well-to-do without the responsibilities of maintaining a large estate or residence, which began to falter during the economic hardship of the Great Depression and austerity of World War II. By the 1950s, the building had become a boardinghouse for transient workers, eventually being renovated using grants and incentives from the Department of Housing and Urban Development into a low-income subsidized affordable housing complex with 184 units, which operated until deteriorating condition and deferred maintenance led to it being vacated in 2003. In 2006-2007, the building was rehabilitated by The Finch Group, under the direction of City Architecture, restoring the exterior and remaining historic interior spaces, and adapting the building into 96 apartment units. The success of the rehabilitation project at Park Lane Villa served as a catalyst for a wave of private investment that has taken off in the University Circle neighborhood, as the project’s success proved to developers and investors that investment in Cleveland’s long-neglected east side could return a profit.

Built in 1894, this limestone-clad Gothic Revival-style church was designed by Samuel Hannaford and Sons, and is located at the corner of Epworth Avenue and Urweiler Avenue in Cincinnati’s Westwood neighborhood. The church features a tall bell tower at a 45-degree angle to the rest of the structure, with a quatrefoil window, pinnacles, and tall spire, multiple gable parapets, gothic stained glass windows, slate roofs, a skylight, a semi-circular apse, and buttresses. The church saw the addition in 1926 of a large educational wing in the Tudor Revival style, with a limestone facade, decorative limestone trim, decorative spandrel panels, a doorway with a gothic arch transom, and an addition in 1951 of additional educational space, with the building featuring a much simpler form and flat roof, with only the entrance and stone cladding showing influence from the two previous buildings. The church is a contributing structure in the Westwood Town Center Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
