One of the leitmotifs of Tottenham cladding is the use of yellow bricks which are unknown further south in Hackney. Perhaps this is a resultant of local geological variations? The effect here is quite startling, a quasi crasy melange of colours and sizes, none of which dominates. The white block wall looks especially good.here. But beneath it I don't know what was meant to happen. The same palette was crying out to be used. A fine treatment, nevertheless.

Otley Victorian Fayre was originally the brainchild of the local Chamber of Commerce. They wanted to give the town’s shops a boost in the run up to Christmas and chose the Victorian theme because it was in that era that Christmas, as we now know it, really started. The first Fayre was held in 1985 and was an immediate success. During the daytime the local schools bring their children, dressed as their Victorian counterparts, into the town to sing carols. In the evening the revelry begins...strangely clad folk roam the streets, fuelled by mead and British eccentricity.

Nice, sturdy house with balanced windows. Much enhanced by imaginative stone cladding, only let down by the cheap stock bricks of the wall. A very fresh treatment. A favourite of mine.

A well maintained end of terace with cream matrix counteracted by darker red stones. Some irregular use of narrow "roman brick" courses. The white window mouldings enhance the cladding to produce a well balanced overall effect.
