The area now known as Garden of the Gods was first called Red Rock Corral by the Europeans. In August 1859, two surveyors who helped to found Colorado City explored the site. One of the surveyors, Melancthon S. Beach, suggested it would be a "capital place for a beer garden". His companion, the young Rufus Cable, awestruck by the impressive rock formations, exclaimed, "Beer garden! Why, it is a fit place for the Gods to assemble. We will call it the Garden of the Gods." However, an 1893 issue of the Colorado Transcript reported that Helen Hunt Jackson assigned the name "the Garden of the Gods"

Bridge to Chimei
This month I have decided to do a project covering Tainan City at night. I discovered this very European style museum on the edge of the city, which is just as impressive during the day time. It has wonderful statues all over the grounds and it is such an amazing place to spend hours taking pictures.
I shall be uploading more from the Chimei museum in the following weeks.
Not given up on city shots yet, here is another attempt from my recent trip to Birmingham. A shot that has been done many times, but, I wanted to have a go at it.
On top at the car park as it was emptying and starting to go dark I was a little surprised to be hassled by a beggar. I did not hang around for the sunset despite being armed with a tripod.

IF THE SKY TURNS RED IT MEANS THAT THE NEW YEAR WILL BE LUCKY
There are a few hours to the end of the year countdown and the expectations of all of us towards 2022 are very high ... honestly, apart from Covid which is affecting our lives, I have nothing to complain about, 2021 was quite positive for my family and my closest friends.
WISH you all to be able to say the same and hope that this new year will be much more generous for the whole world.

Great lines of numbers
All bright and shiny
All through the ether
Some huge, some tiny
All through the ether
From France to China
Unite the people
All bottomliners
Some brass, some paper
Some gold, some silver
Some full of promise
Some full of anger
In ranks of thousands
They fall and stumble
All bottomliners
We make the number
And in the future
New forms of romance
Grenade and land mine
In twilit silence

View over Seattle from Kerry Park. So glad we made it to this location- the only trouble was it stared to rain while we were there so had to cut the shoot short.
Chicago at night is one of my favorite things about living here. There are just so many awesome views of the city at any time of day, but my favorite has to be when the sky dims and the lights turn on.
What's your favorite thing about Chicago? Or perhaps you have another favorite city? Shout it out!
