This is the EE-SYS313 reflective opto-sensor. It will trigger the generation of notes by the software in the Arduino. The output is simply a TTL-compatible logic signal. Photo by David Henshall.

Conversacion acerca de la teoría básica para hacer un circuit bending y los materiales que se ocupan. Luego se hará un taller práctico donde se intervendrán juguetes, cada participante debe llevar un juguete que emita sonidos y a pila para intervenir.
Materiales requeridos:
•Juguetes a pila en desuso que tengan sonidos "cualquier tipo". (teclados,pianitos, muñecas, pistolas, guitarras, figuritas, juguetes de guagua, etc.)
•Seis metros de cable delgado de red UTP o teléfono.
•Alicate cortante, destornilladores de punta y cruz. (chicos)
•Cautín eléctrico 30 watts, soldadura, huincha aisladora. (se consigue en cualquier ferreteria)
Se compran en casa de electrónica. (Casa Royal)
•Potenciómetros circulares de 1 a 500 kilohertz. Unos 5 o 10. (valen como $300 pesos.)
•Pulsadores y toggle switchs. Interruptores. Unos 5 o 10.
•Pilas baratas o Transformador con variacion de Voltaje.
·Entradas de audio para guitarra eléctrica, jack grande. ( valen como $300 pesos 2 o 3)
·Caimanes o pinzas para hacer contacto son unas rojas o negras pequeñas (valen como $50 pesos).

You have to appreciate the tiered pcb layout accommodating the "saxxy" design.
Well you don't have to . . . but you should.
Not just a sculpture - playable circuit-bent instruments are imbedded into these wonderful Mexican-inspired forms. They sound WAY stranger than they look! Incredible work and concept.
I'll have a few more Maker Faire shots coming up, including more taken with my Pin-O-Rama camera from MAKE:09.
This was the demonstration of circuit bending. Lots of intriguing distressed, gargling squawks coming from this booth.
(Something to do with these guys I gather?)
