I have some Cinestill 800T in the fridge but decided to chase the look of it using digital for this particular shot. The stand-in for Cinestill's halation effect was provided by attaching a Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter to the lens.

It doesn't always need be hifi color fireworks. Shooting film in lowlight brings its own lovely mood. Taken with Hasselblad 501CM + Cinestill 800t pushed to ISO 1600 and 3200 and self-developed with Cinestill C41 powder kit. Model: @roxable
Another image of this spring's cherry blossoms in downtown Portland. This photo was made on my second roll ever using Cinestill 800T. Coincidentally, or serendipitously, my first experience with this film was an Alpha roll I shot at last year's cherry blossoms. I had been meaning to try it again, and while I don't think I intended to photograph more cherry blossoms with it, nonetheless I ended up here with that film in my camera. This film is tungsten balanced, so if used under daylight conditions it renders a fairly heavy blue cast. But the previous roll I had exposed I rated at ISO 400 instead of 800, overexposing by a stop, and the blue cast had been much less pronounced than expected. So I wanted to try that experiment again and see how a second roll came out. The colors are still cool, but they are not cold. And I enjoy the film's soft contrast and saturation. I had a great conversation about subtlety yesterday, and this film - at least used in a situation such as this - is much more about subtlety. It speaks in more subdued tones, rather than shouting at you. I dig that. I'd say I need to shoot more of it, and do more nighttime stuff like it is meant for, but I say that about a lot of films, so we'll see.

I came across the a2e in a thrift store so I picked it up. I guess it works. Now I have a nice picture of what has become one of my favourite cameras. The lens is the super wide 15mm heliar.
