I am good but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love.

You know that phenomenon as a photographer where you never have as many photos of yourself as you do of your friends and family because you are always the one behind the camera? I know, some of you would quip that that is exactly why you are a photographer, to insure you are behind it and not in front of it. I have used that joke myself on occasion. But my cameras also often share the same condition. I don't generally photograph them because I am busy using them. Yet many of these cameras are like old friends. We have been on adventures together, traveled the world together. Had our scrapes and scraps. Anyway, this is just a quick post tonight of an image I made yesterday while out in the Gorge. I had just made a photo with my Pentax and was grabbing a borrowed Canon EOS 10S out of my bag and decided I just did not have enough portraits of this camera. I love my Pentax 67. Old friend, indeed.

Roll on Mississippi

The lyrics to the popular Charley Pride song “Roll on Mississippi” take on a new meaning as you spend an evening shooting a few photographs along the east bank of the Mississippi River while daylight slips into night. Four ocean-going bulk carrier ships are tied up along the river near Norco, LA, this particular evening. One of these boats, the Pacific Tulip, is only midway into a journey from Reserve, Louisiana, to Singapore that began the day after these photographs were made. The Pacific Tulip departed Reserve with a load of grain the morning of March 21st, and will arrive into Singapore on May the 9th. It is currently directly south of Kynysa, South Africa, working its way into the vast Indian Ocean. The incredible amount of time it takes for the ship to navigate the world’s waterways shows us just how dramatically large our planet is...

This photograph was shot on Cinestill 800T 35mm film with my Nikon F3. Film certainly isn’t the cleanest of mediums to capture photographs on like the clinical digital cameras of today. It does, however, capture images in a sort of pure, nostalgic, way that more than overcomes the imperfections. For my first time attempting night shots with 35mm film I’m pretty happy with these...

Thanks for looking!

I have some prints available on my etsy page, probably the best way to support my work. I also can make available to print any photos you guys would like. Just google zianophoto etsy to find my shop since flickr goes stupid every time I put a link up. Thanks!
