I decided that my first trip out in September would be back to Chrome Hill. A location I had visited several times before, but always ended up disappointed. As I entered the Dove Valley the low lying mist was thick, so I thought I was in for a treat. However (as so often is the case), by the time the car was parked, and I had walked the 25minutes or so to my intended viewpoint, most of the mist had retreated.
About 20mins after sunrise a thick fog rolled in from behind us, almost completely obscuring Parkhouse Hill. This photograph was taken just as the fog cleared, revealing a bit of blue sky as it did.
Nice to bump into a couple of photographers on the hill, who worked hard to keep spirits up when it looked like the elements had conspired against us
I reached for one of these everyday for ten years. A tool box, can of oil, can of gas, go anywhere and get home.
Taken on Friday from the summit of Chrome Hill looking North West over to Hollins Hill in Derbyshire. I was trying to get above the cloud inversion and noticed a another photographer on the lower ridge, he looked like a great subject for scale so decided to take a picture and as I was doing so a halo started to appear briefly.
Ive never seen a fog bow before, only in images... It might have been the start of one as I was in a prime location for it with my back to the sun on a peak.
Anyway, thought id share :)

For the amount of times ive ventured out before sunrise to Chrome & Parkhouse Hill's I don't actually have that many pictures of them in the snow. Especially not this angle anyway so I dont feel to bad for re-visiting the same location over and over.
This is also my first outing of 2019, lacking motivation and work have kept me away. I think im also getting picky, which is sad.

Another from bank holiday Monday up on Chrome Hill.
Tighter view of the classic tree and view over to Parkhouse hill as the mist built before ebbing away back up the valley.

A quick morning trip to Chrome hill for sunrise, the forecast said possible mist and fog and driving there it looked promising as there was a fair bit of mist on the way but as soon as I started to descend into the valley it was obvious that the mist and fog was only on the higher ground and none in the valley.
Luck was on my side when I came upon this classic Chevrolet pick-up truck. I couldn’t believe it was exactly what I had envisioned being able to find and photograph. An unrestored eroded finish or patina next to the original chrome. The hood was up for maintenance, nobody around so I snapped a few shots. Seconds later, a couple is approaching me with worried looks on their faces. Once in earshot, I uttered the magic phrase, “I’m and HONORS Student!” and a look of relief floods their faces. I then asked for permission to photograph the truck and sang its praises, revealed my project and the vision I had of an antique truck with a natural patina and original chrome and how lucky I was to find their truck. Printed at F 16 for 27 seconds using a #2 filter.
Testing a Kolari Vision IR Chrome filter.
Pretty much like it came out of the camera, minimal editing.

Chrome Hill is a limestone reef knoll in Derbyshire, England, in the upper Dove valley beside the border with Staffordshire. It is adjacent to Parkhouse Hill, another reef knoll. Chrome Hill was declared open access land under the provisions of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.
