b>PREFACE

"SHADHINOTA is My Cause for the 40th Celebration of BANGLADESH Independence. The land, the mighty rivers and the natural beauty makes Bangladesh a land of unparalleled splendor and magnificence. Bangladesh was liberated after a prolonged war of Independence the declaration of which was given on 26th MARCH 1971. One of the worst genocides Genocide in history took place at the behest of an autocratic regime in the name of Political stability spearheaded by the then Pakistan President Yah ya Khan. After 9 months of Liberation water and the sacrifice of 3 million lives Victory came. In addition to the loss of lives countless others were rendered homeless, the infrastructure including roads and bridges and factories lay in ruins. The people of Bangladesh have shown time and again how resilient they are. After each and every disaster, natural or man-made the people have again stood up and started all over again from scratch.

My Effort here is to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the soil and the ‘die hard’ attitude of a people who can still smile in the face of adversity however great it may be. I plan to make a collage of images that represent the lives of the people of Bangladesh. I encourage you to upload a photo each day till I have a total of 40 images for the Cause SHADHINOTA in the group Frame BANGLADESH"

,I was Travelling by my car to visit my friend at ATN Bangla office who is a CEO there , and at the Traffic Jam near Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargoan,[ Very close to ATN NEWS office] I Noticed this subject

The subject was in side a CNG, and I had enough time to click this undisturbed, unnoticed and with out much difficulties as my 50mm prime f 1.8 was mounted on the body ,

Deepavali or Diwali [note 1], popularly known as the "festival of lights," is a festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-November for different reasons. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC.[1][2]

Deepavali is an official holiday in India,[3] Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore,[4] and Fiji.

The name "Diwali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvalī), which translates into "row of lamps".[5] Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas or dīpas) in Sanskrit: दीप) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

The festival starts with Dhanteras on which most Indian business communities begin their financial year. The second day of the festival, Naraka Chaturdasi, marks the vanquishing of the demon Naraka by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama. Amavasya, the third day of Deepawali, marks the worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth in her most benevolent mood, fulfilling the wishes of her devotees. Amavasya also tells the story of Lord Vishnu, who in his dwarf incarnation vanquished the Bali, and banished him to Patala. It is on the fourth day of Deepawali, Kartika Shudda Padyami, that Bali went to patala and took the reins of his new kingdom in there. The fifth day is referred to as Yama Dvitiya (also called Bhai Dooj), and on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

How to make your own dry box

Why does the camera lens get molds?

Molds love to grow on DSLR lens coating as they love growing in warm, moist and humid places. Generally, molds will grow when the relative humidity (RH) is more than 70%. And there is a very specific type of molds which can only grow when the RH level is less than 20%.

The most ideal RH level to store the camera gear is between 40-50%.

The RH level at my home during winter time is around 75% and I use a 20L dehumidifier to help reducing the RH level. Unfortunately, dehumidifier is expensive to run, so I had to find a cheaper alternative.

My friend suggested a dry box with silica gel & hygrometer. I shopped around and discovered that dry box for one camera and one lens is quite affordable. However, if you have more than one lens, dry box can be quite expensive, it costs more than $100.

If you don't want to spend a fortune to purchase a dry box, why don't you make your own? Making your own dry box will cost less than $60

Note:

When you use the dry box for the first time, put the silica gel & hygrometer inside the box and keep the box empty & airtight for a minimum of 6 hours.

The reason?

Because when the silica gel is used for the first time, it is in full strength means that it will absorb the moisture in full capacity making the dry box drier than anticipated.

It is based on my friend's personal experience, he put his camera & gear inside the brand new dry box & silica gel; and he found out that the RH level was 35% (too dry). After several hours, the RH level stabilized to 50% and stayed around that level until the silica gel needed to be recharged / renewed.

Making your own dry box

Three essential things you'll need to make your own dry box:

1. Airtight container

2. Silica gel or small wireless dehumidifier

3. Hygrometer

1. Airtight Lock & Lock Container

Choose the right size container that will fit all your camera gear (camera & lenses).

The airtight container will prevent the outside air to enter into the container hence maintaining the right RH inside it.

Place the sealed container in a cool dry area

Cost: Start from $8.00 from Amazon or less than $20 at any of your local / DIY store

Tips On Hygrometer

A hygrometer is a simple device that is used to measure relative humidity. Yet as simple as hygrometers may be, they can be quite delicate, and prone to giving inaccurate readings over time or with use. Using nothing more than a few kitchen supplies, however, you can determine the accuracy of your hygrometer, and calibrate it accordingly.

•1/2 cup of table salt

•1/4 cup of water

•Hygrometer

•Ziploc bag

Mix the salt and water in a small cup, stirring until totally saturated. After a few minutes, the mixture should resemble wet sand.

Place the cup and hygrometer in a Ziploc (or otherwise resealable) bag. Keep the salt and the hygrometer completely separate.

Seal the bag and place it aside to sit at a consistent room temperature, away from drafts or direct sunlight. Let sit for 8 to12 hours.

Check the hygrometer, while keeping the bag completely sealed. In ideal conditions, the humidity should read as 75 percent. (Your hygrometer may be off by a couple of points.)

Remove the hygrometer from the bag. If you can, quickly adjust it to read 75 percent; otherwise, simply make a note as to how much you need to adjust your figure for each reading.

"Merry," derived from the Old English myrige, originally meant merely "pleasant, and agreeable" rather than joyous or jolly (as in the phrase "merry month of May").[2]

The alternative "Happy Christmas" gained usage in the late 19th century, and is still common in the U.K. and Ireland alongside "Merry Christmas". One reason may be the Methodist Victorian middle-class influence in attempting to separate their construct of wholesome celebration of the Christmas season from that of common lower-class public insobriety and associated asocial behaviour, in a time where merry was also understood to mean "tipsy" or "drunk". Queen Elizabeth II is said to prefer "Happy Christmas" for this reason.[2] In the American poet Clement Moore's "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (1823), the final line, originally written as "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night," has been changed in many later editions to "Merry Christmas to all," perhaps indicating the relative popularity of the phrases in the U.S.

b>PREFACE

"SHADHINOTA is My Cause for the 40th Celebration of BANGLADESH Independence. The land, the mighty rivers and the natural beauty makes Bangladesh a land of unparalleled splendor and magnificence. Bangladesh was liberated after a prolonged war of Independence the declaration of which was given on 26th MARCH 1971. One of the worst genocides Genocide in history took place at the behest of an autocratic regime in the name of Political stability spearheaded by the then Pakistan President Yah ya Khan. After 9 months of Liberation water and the sacrifice of 3 million lives Victory came. In addition to the loss of lives countless others were rendered homeless, the infrastructure including roads and bridges and factories lay in ruins. The people of Bangladesh have shown time and again how resilient they are. After each and every disaster, natural or man-made the people have again stood up and started all over again from scratch.

My Effort here is to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the soil and the ‘die hard’ attitude of a people who can still smile in the face of adversity however great it may be. I plan to make a collage of images that represent the lives of the people of Bangladesh. I encourage you to upload a photo each day till I have a total of 40 images for the Cause SHADHINOTA in the group Frame BANGLADESH"

This is the cover photo of my set SAILAN

The village of Shailan is located about 40 kilometers north west of Dhaka under Dhamrai upazilla. The village consists of about 200 households with a population of about 1500. Throughout the year Shailan is accessible by road and when the rivers swell during rainy season one can travel by boat as well.

Shailan in essence is like any other village of Bangladesh. It has a mosque built around 1930, a primary school established in 1904 and a High School set up in 1974. But looking just below the surface, one discovers that like all villages, it has its own unique character as well, a personality and charm that sets it apart from the rest. The following photographs is a montage of the life of a village called Shailan.

Bangladesh, a land of cultural festivals, always celebrates each and every colorful distinctiveness of the nature. Each of the seasons has its own way of representing the nature here in Bangladesh. The spring (Bashanta) is celebrated in colorful programs all over the country. One such festival is the Kite Flying festival, which is a common phenomenon all over the world, celebrated in different names. Kite flying festival in Asia has the oldest history which gathers people from different religions and classes to celebrate nature’s liveliness after the harshness of winter. In spring, the sky remains clear and also the gentle bridge helps to fly the kite quite nicely than any other time of the year.

Kite flying, an oldest traditional festivities dating back to Mughal Era, gathers a huge crowd at different places of the country. The most colorful and enthusiastic festival is held at Old Dhaka. People of Shakharipatti, Tatibazar, Lokkhibazar of the city celebrates the day with lots of courage and enthusiasm. Thousands of kites cover the sky of the city with colorful drapes. People of the mentioned places prepare delicious foods to entertain the guests. People of all ages go to the roof of their residential place to fly kites starting from the midday. Thousands of people including young ladies can be seen on the roofs depicting a fine composition of the festival. Some people also arrange musical system on the roof, which plays popular tracks loudly giving the festival a rhythmic backbone.

Most attractive part of the festival takes place when the sun set begins. Some people put characin into their mouth and blows fire with that liquid. Though the task is quite dangerous, it brings an illuminating effect all around the place.

The kite flying festival is usually held from January to February. It really welcomes the spring in a vivacious way.

this is a Kind a Back water , but they do not come for sea, usually this is a Bill { in Bangoli} may call them shallow water too,

Usually during monsoon they come form nearby River, these water are from Padma river, and they start disappearing from Nov , and by January , this will be again good for cultivation, We have a lot o vegetable and rice cultivation in this area,

Last yr our government wanted to maki this a International air port, but pubic defuse the aim, b coz 1000s of family's are living form fishing during monsoon and paddy growth during winter and summer, and they are almost hands to mouth,

In these area , THE TREE you saw, called Hejol tree, It has a wonderful Flowers may see them here

But these trees at this time is very risky for poisonous snakes living there as the area is inundated so snakes live here,

Another Interesting matter you may Notice, This Bill area has a lot of deep ponds which are a trap for fishing, These days the ponds are under water and those big fish will take shelter in those ponds, and when the water starts moving out, the owner will trap the fish form those pond, Locally those ponds are called DANGA
