not a bad Sunday meal...Ethan fell asleep at 6:30...WAY before it was ready, ugh. The soup will taste better after it cooks longer!
Low tide at Duxbury Beach in Massachusetts brings out numerous people to dig for quahogs and clams for making "Chowda" before the big game tomorrow. Everyone coming off the sand flats was rewarded with a large bucket of quahogs.
Looking for a fresh, fun, football themed menu at your Superbowl party this
weekend?
How about a "Chowda" Bar, as they say in ye olde Boston?
Entertaining Company created this spread with New England Clam Chowder
(white) and Manhattan Clam Chowder (Red), plus tons of tasty toppings to
mix in.
I love setting a "self serve" buffet with bites guests can taste, test, and
talk about.
It is an instant conversation starter, and makes mixing and mingling easy
and effortless.
Best of all, Entertaining Company can deliver right to your door - or you
can DIY yourself, preset the entire buffet near the stove in the kitchen,
and during the party, spend time with guests, not on food duty.
Touchdown!
Mayor Quimby refers frequently to Chowda in an episode of "The Simpsons"...so this sign made me chuckle! Unfortinately I didn't get a chance to sample any :o(
It's Still "Chowda" Weather!
There is nothing better than sitting down with family to a bowl of home made Clam Chowder when the temperature dips outside. No time? Well one of the best parts of this chowder recipe, as with many, is that it tastes better the next day or the next. When you find a little extra time and feel like being creative, make this chowder ahead of time and serve it to your family when you call can sit down and enjoy it. I have two suggestions. Don't skip on the clams, more is almost always better in this case, and don't substitute the heavy cream with milk or half and half.....

Marty was very pleased with himself. Funny thing was that when he ordered the soup (which, by the way, we were at a restaurant called Slammin' Sammies to watch football, and their chowder was named Slam Chowda, and I made Marty order it that way) he wanted a cup, not a bowl, but he did want the bread bowl part, so he asked if his soup could be served in a muffin cup.
For New Year's Eve 2011, I was in Boston for First Night. I went to a bunch of events with the Social Fun Meetup group. I had a blast and ate my favorite New England foods!
