PERSONAL FUN FACT: I have to say that this Barbie stole my heart the first time I laid eyes on her around Christmas 2018. Colleen and I were cruising the toy section at our local Wal-Mart, hoping to find on sale Harry Potter dollies. As we wandered the aisle, I spotted a copious amount of these Pioneer Woman Barbies on display. My first thought was, "Holy crap, this is the coolest idea ever!" In my travels in home ware sections at stores, I often come across The Pioneer Woman merchandise, and here and there I may have even bought something (like one of those jar cups with lid/straw combos). I always thought that the designs of the items were cute, even if things were often over priced. To think that The Pioneer Woman is so popular that she inspired a Barbie in her image is WAY cool! I am a sucker for any sort of celebrity/pop culture doll. And the fact that The Pioneer Woman, aka Ree Drummond, is famous for homey stuff, makes this doll even more awesome to me. Martha Stewart Barbie much?!!! Anyways, I love that this cutie has red hair like Ree and additional freckles. Even if she wasn't sold with a temptingly huge kitchen set choked full of loads of dolly sized food, I still would have been intrigued. I desperately hoped that this doll would go on some kind of sale so I could add her to my collection someday. She was originally marked at $45, which quite frankly is way out of my price range (and even if I did have nearly $50 to blow on one doll, I wouldn't spend it on a Barbie). I started losing hope that there would be any sort of markdown on these sets. Then one early morning in May 2019, I happened to strike luck. I was doing my routine Friday morning grocery run to Wal-Mart, when I popped in the toy section. I don't make a habit of this, mostly because Barbie stuff doesn't go on sales too often, and Monster High and Bratz aren't sold anymore. But on this occasion I needed to look at fashion packs, to see if I could find something to fit my newly acquired, very nude, curvy Barbie. After picking out an adorable Chococat inspired fashion for Miss Chambray Chic, I scoped out the other toys. It was on the bottom shelf beneath the Harry Potter and Disney dolls that I found a lone Pioneer Woman box. I figured, "what the heck, I'll check her price to see if she's on sale." I thought that maybe she'd be $30 now, still more than I wanted to pay. But lo and behold, when I scanned her, Barbie rang up at FIFTEEN DOLLARS! I was so shocked, that I double checked, thinking there had to be a mistake. Nope, she was indeed only $15, which was exactly what my cheap self wanted to pay. I was so excited that even took a picture of Barbie and told Colleen of the find. She told me later that she was distracted all day at work, thinking of this fabulous Pioneer Woman doll. Out of the box, this gal is just as stunning. Her hair felt gross upon first inspection, but a boil wash revealed stunning, saran tresses. I love her closed lip head mold too. I think it fits this doll more so than Barbie's toothy, cheesy head mold would have. It's not all that often that a Barbie tempts me as much as this doll. I even looked for her online to see if I could get a deal. But I'm so glad I waited patiently, because I got her for such a steal. Did I need yet another Barbie kitchen? Absolutely not, but this has to be one of the most unique doll concepts I have ever seen!
Well technically this is two UPS packages and a Fed ex package. Pullip Merl and Dal Heart Macaron came from Pullipstyle, two of the POP! vinyl figures and the Rainbow Dash keychain came from Hot Topic in addition to a couple of tshirts and everything else came from BBTS. BBTS has an option that lets you group orders so this is like two-three months worth of stuff from them.

Vina got a bit of pain added to her eyes, some re-engineering of her hair (along with a hair cut), and took advantage of the generous cut of the Chococat top to indulge in some layering.

This is my Sanrio keychain collection. There aren't really that many but what they lack in size they sure make up for in cuteness! The black Chococat at the bottom right hand corner is the one i use everyday for my keys and he goes everywhere with me : ). The rest are just displayed in various places around my room.
I don't know why but I always feel the need to do my designs on the entire lid even though the top third doesn't even show up once you put them in the faceplate....

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I wanted an excuse for a LONG time to get my hands on some Hello Kitty themed threads for my Barbies. I mostly was made aware of this fashion line via eBay. I spend way too much time trying to identify secondhand doll clothes on there, and I tend to find listings for brand new Barbie fashions rather often. I admit even though I know I don't have any of the Hello Kitty ones secondhand, I always have to take a peek at the listings. So naturally I was keen to buy this fashion pack when I "needed" an outfit for my recently acquired Chambray Chic "curvy" Barbie, who was without clothes. I waste no time and am never cheap about clothing my dolls. If a gal or guy needs an outfit, I am going to spend time investigating my options. After all, half the fun in collecting dolls revolves around their wardrobe (which is why molded or painted clothes on dollies is one of my pet peeves). Anyways, rather than settle for a handmade outfit from storage or some not so flattering getup I already had, I thought this was the opportune time to learn more about the world of modern Barbie fashions. And I already had my sights set on Hello Kitty fashions before arriving at Wal-Mart. There weren't many different ones to choose from that day, but I really loved the design of this ChocoCat dress. Firstly, I LOVE black cats. Secondly, I am way too obsessed with doll food, so this fast food print was a big yes from me. And thirdly, well I have a Hello Kitty themed checkbook that features pages which have a similar print (only not with ChocoCat, but with Hello Kitty herself). This might sound silly, but my Hello Kitty themed checkbook makes me so happy that it makes writing the checks (and losing my money) less painful! Hello Kitty has been a part of my identity since I was not even eleven years old. And while I don't feel the need to wear her from head to toe anymore, I think it's nice to have dolls as an outlet to express my former 12 year old desires!
