Walk to Work Day 4.

I've crossed under the dual carriage way, and come to gates into Chiswick House off the A4.

There are five main gates into Chiswick House and Gardens. This entrance is the one I use the most on my walk to work.

People who know my photo-stream will recognise this avenue of trees beyond the gates - I've photographed it an awful lot! But never this view.

Taken with a Super-Takumar 35/3.5. PP with Pinhole Camera settings in Silver efex Pro.

Influenced by travels on the Grand Tour, the building was a rejection of the showy, Baroque style fashionable in England, in favour of a simpler, symmetrical design based on the classical architecture of Italy.

Piccadilly Line trains have taken over the 'local lines' between Acton Town and Barons Court. This is because the District Line is not running west of South Kensington until 31/12/13. Stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith are being covered by a special service on the Piccadilly Line, which is also serving Ealing Broadway.

E Class 0-4-4T Met No.1 leads the District 150/District Pioneer Heritage Train into Chiswick Park. Sarah Siddons is on the rear. The route the train took over this weekend was over the District Line from Ealing Broadway to Kensington High Street. Very little if any of it was underground and the journey took barely 30 mins each way so I hope the passengers got their money's worth at £150 each!

Magnificent neoclassical architecture with awesome glossy black PVC boots.

These wellies are incredibly and irresistibly soft to the touch 😋

Another 'prewar' RT was present- RT113 at the Chiswick Gala . 2/7/83.

RT1 at the Chiswick Gala, 2/7/83. Due to the number of buses present they were unfortunately very close together so restricting photography.

Chiswick Works Open Day - 1985

Demonstration in “righting” a turned over bus with use of big balloons. Same RM had been turned on it's side several times that day, with a bit of a crash. There was also a DM type bus being used in the demonstration. Sorry for poor quality.

I was particularly pleased to see TF77 - with its 'Romford' blinds - my home town. LT Chiswick Golden Jubilee Gala 2//7/83.

A couple of non London Transport visitors to the Golden Jubilee Gala open weekend held at Chiswick Works over the weekend of July 2nd and 3rd 1983.

The bus closest the camera is from the Reading fleet and is branded for the London Express 'Goldline' service that the municipal operated into central London.

The second bus is from a little further afield, this being the first of a pair of Scania BR112DH double decks purchased by Greater Manchester PTE for evaluation. Based at Leigh depot to the west of Manchester, it was one of the more unusual visitors to the weekend event which celebrated fifty years of London Transport.

Some pictures taken by the late Michael Cleary. Summer 1983.

The famous Chiswick skid pan.

Snapped at f11. Adding to my album of photos with a Helios 40. I took these photos for a video review of the lens, which you can see here, if you are interested:
