"when i spoke to her, i had the feeling that her thoughts had been nourished in wide-open spaces where talk was sparse and silence ruled."
- what i loved
there's a lump in my throat
my chest hurts
it only took something small to ruin a good day.
Confession: I chipped my front right tooth on a bottle of WKD at a rave-themed party last November, and it's currently capped. I always worry about chipping it again so I haven't danced with a glass bottle in hand since.

iloveegg.com is one of my favourite guilty pleasures. I almost feel like a monster that it makes me hungry. Here is the 'I Love Egg' theme song. Maybe some of you will agree?
Either way, my favourite style of egg would just have to be quick and rough - I just like my eggs scrambled. Low maintenance, I would think. Oh and then scrambled eggs with a bunch of bell peppers and salsa wrapped in a tortilla? That would be a decadent breakfast to me.

Yeah, Yeah, I know the field of focus is on the fence, but I like it that way.
This was a mean ol' junk yard dog who came over and barked at us. Five minutes with me and we were best friends.
It is hard to tell in this photo but his jaw was broken at one time and his incisor on the left was all out of whack. He was flea free and well fed. In general this is one lucky dog. Just a bit lonely.

He has become the face that I look for, and will constantly see, whenever I visit Pulau Ubin. He had just insisted - and successfully - bought me lunch when I took this picture of him brandishing his rustic, disarming, chipped-tooth smile.
63 year-old Tian Song drives one of the many white mini-buses on Pulau Ubin, ferrying visitors to camping spots on the island. He first came to the island when he was 19 to work as a car mechanic's apprentice. Shortly, he met and married his wife, who was born and raised on Ubin, and there they raised a family of their own.
Migration of his family to mainland Singapore started when his son finished his six years of education at the only primary school on the island. Today, he and his wife lives in Yishun. His son has a family of his own, and supports his parents' livelihood. Yet, Tian Song still lives in the old family house on the island about three to four days a week, for his mini-bus job.
"My son forbids me from doing any serious work," he tells me, with an obvious hint of pride for his successful and filial offspring, "but I can't sit around all day. I'll fall ill if I had nothing to do."
this one goes out to seventytw0dpi, for learning me that symmetry is cool.
hey lookie, flickr just turned gamma!
Shot this back in March at Jimbos. I did not like it then but I like it now, very dark image of a grungy old dog
he got hit in the mouth with a baseball bat during practice, and didn't even cry.
the coach: uh, what are your plans after baseball?
me: relaxing? {not schlepping to the field every other night?}
the coach: have you thought of putting him in football? we need tough kids like him.
Day 130, May 10: Moving was pretty uneventful, except for this...snaggle tooth.
My 85-year-old Grandpa, parents, and sister (Joe, too, of course) all helped without incident. Then I decided to move a dresser with my younger sister Brenda. Bad decision perhaps. We get along great now, but after years of childhood trauma at my hands, it might have been the opportunity she was waiting for, or maybe it was an accident:) It all happened so quickly, and then I was spitting out part of my front tooth.
(I could think of much cooler ways to break a tooth. A bar fight story would maybe be cool, and I would seem tough and fierce and ready to take on anyone who got in my way. But then a tripping on stairs story would be not so cool, and I would just seem clumsy.)
Words of advice: Use caution when moving dressers, especially with siblings.
