life is not a box of roses

life is not a box of roses

Let's go on an imaginary journey! On their imaginary journeys the three to five year olds of the early childhood education classes go to the forest, visit a relative in the neighbouring village or go fishing. They balance on bridges, step over a sleeping monkey, avoid getting stuck in a swamp by stepping on safe places, open a secret door by hitting it with a ball and jump bravely over a snake. In doing so, the children practise in a playful way and, with few aids, their fine and gross motor skills are improved and they learn how to follow instructions and concentrate on a task.

Paediatric or childhood cancer is not as commonly found as adult cancer is. Even though the risk of this chronic disease is lesser in children, there are many kids of different ages that have been facing this dread every day of their childhood.

My father loved to work outside. We have a large lawn so he bought a tractor. One of the things my brother and I loved to do was sit in the cart and have him drive us up and down the driveway.

LIFE IS NOT A BOX OF ROSES

Sorry for all this spam recently, but I just can’t get over owning these things. Everything you see here was literally my childhood dreams and fantasies. I remember going into the Warner Bros. store and begging the employees to sell me the Gremlins on display. It’s not fair this stuff didn’t exist when I was a kid, but better late than never. #gremlins #ghostbusters #1984 #nightmareonelmstreet #anightmareonelmstreet #freddykrueger #freddyglove #gizmo #mogwai #protonpack #horror #halloween #movieprops

LIFE IS NOT LIKE A BOX OF ROSES

i've realized more and more in the last few days that i miss my childhood, i'm not little miss innocent, i can't get away with what i used to be able to, i'm becoming a grown woman, and i have to face the facts.

its hard sometimes, these silly transition stages. but, justin bought me this bear to remind me of him. =D

Childhood is the fiery furnace in which we are melted down to essentials and that essential shaped for good.

I miss swing from these, I tried right after I took this picture. I'm too tall.

If you saw my old Google Maps childhood, these go with those stories.

In a crazy coincidence, Kathryn went there too (4 years behind me I think).

My grandma used to have these plants. I know that I didn't like the smell of them when I was a kid. Now I do. Can't remember what they're called anymore.

Saw these in the window of the Iranian restaurant Byblos (1499, ave. Laurier E)

this is probably one of the last photos i have of her before she got super sick. yes, this is in front of the church, my mom's uber-baptist bible-thumping church that i hated with a passion even as an 8 or 9 year old. i used to throw tantrums on sunday mornings cuz i didn't want to go, didn't want to wear a dress/skirt. that is one of her sisters - i think cece (that's her nickname, her full name was irece - all my mom's 7 brothers and sisters' names started with the letter "i"), who was visiting from brazil.
