Chicago “abstract perspective” architecture. Currently undergoing a renovation. Will be "Googleplex" or something similar.

Ms. Tubman's biography / history is fascinating.

Simply speaking, she could have ran and never looked back.

But she chose to turn back and help. Over and over she saved lives. Placing herself in danger.

we hold up many individuals as 'heroes' - Ms. Tubman is the unadulterated definition of a true Hero.

This photo is a tunnel reaching back through time; H. Seymour Squyer took the original photo in 1885, then a visual artist created this public installation in the Red line Subway of Chicago, and I photographed it into the present moment.

It being displayed in the 'underground' subway is sheer genius on the part of the artist. Look as I did I could not ascertain who that artist is.

I wanted to render that magic moment of friends strolling down State street on a wonderful Chicago afternoon.

Ein CTA-Train ist hier unterwegs in Richtung Osten und wird als nächste Station Clark/Lake erreichen.

I love the positive energy here. I was on my way to dinner with friends at a French bistro in the loop and life was pretty good.

And then everything changed.

Taken in January, 2020.

Today Dec. 9, we celebrate the feast day of St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin.

Tuesday Dec 12, Our Lady of Guadalupe.

If you look carefully - with deep respect I thought this photo would be quite apropos.

An unwritten rule of street photography which is reiterated by Master photographers in their lectures and web blogs is for the photographer to disappear into the crowd. I am not in total disagreement, but it's a wonder filled world out there and I believe talking and interacting with some of those beautiful people is life fulfilling.

I would say I have conversation with approximately half the folks I photograph.. Usually after I get the shot.

In this particular interaction this gentle man brought peace into my heart.

Peace to you all my Flickr friends

Happy Window Wednesdays in the Chicago Loop

This week, Central Camera on Wabash in Chicago’s Loop returned to their store following fire damage on 30 May 2020. Their iconic neon sign is lit again!

Through the process of time, this re-engineered river circa 1900 created a gold canyon, with its layered bands of shimmering stories, which reveal scores of years of municipal history. Viewpoints include Wolf Point, River Walk and the Wrigley Building observation points with wide views of the canyon. The Chicago River system is 156 miles long.

Nowadays it is one of the most visited places in America.

Historians still debate exactly when the unique culture of its inhabitants emerged. Some say it was with the creation of the Chicago hot dog. Others say it can be traced to a much earlier time.

On the way to the office in downtown Chicago in the morning yesterday

My dad was nice enough to invite me up to visit him but ONLY if I brought my camera with to get some photos of the view from his room.

He's been bragging about the great view ever since he's been recovering from his back surgery last week, so I was able to finally make it up there to visit him yesterday evening.. (originally he did NOT want visitors but his stay has unfortunately been extended due to some complications that aren't exactly related to the surgery).
