The Villa Vittorio Emanuele is the splendid Public Garden of the city of Caltagirone (CT) particularly renowned for being among the largest in Sicily.

It was built in 1846 by Giovan Battista Filippo Basile, taking the prestigious English Parks as a source of inspiration.

Beautiful paths surrounded by wonderful trees and exotic plants make up the rich vegetation, to which are added splendid ornamental installations, including terracotta vases, Sicilian majolica and the inevitable Caltagirone ceramics, true excellence of local craftsmanship.

Inside the Villa Vittorio Emanuele Public Garden you can also find a beautiful Music Stage built in Moorish style.

Manhattan's Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, which is actually a rectangle and not a square, is home to many avid chess players. Here are two deep in concentration contemplating the next moves.

At a time when so many young people are consumed by all manner of video games, it is refreshing to see these gentlemen outdoors among friends, real and not virtual, in a public park challenging their mental skills while enjoying the fresh air of a beautiful Autumn day.

Dream's are today's answers to tomorrow's questions.

Quote by Edgar Cayce

I noticed the chess players in the park. It was so lovely to see them taking traditionally indoor activities outside during this second lockdown in the UK. They were concentrating so hard that even when I came really close, they didn't even see me.

Contrary to appearances, this is a candid and not posed!

Un bel esempio di intergrazione tra vechio e nuovo. Gli scacchi come mezzo di comunicazione e di convivenza tra due generazioni.

A nice example of integration between old and new. Chess as a means of communication and coexistence between two generations.

wandering through the quiet streets of alcudia, i spotted a man standing by his door. intrigued by the rustic entrance, i asked if i could photograph it. little did i know, this simple request would lead to a spontaneous portrait session inside his home. he revealed himself to be a painter and writer, living without the convenience of the internet or a mobile phone. the conversation flowed, and as he posed with the chessboard, i promised him a print of this portrait. in return, he said he would paint me. sometimes, photography opens doors to more than just images â it connects people in ways you can't predict.

Very nice to watch all the chess players in the park

The true adversary is usually yourself...

A self-portrait in which I'm pretending to play white in a Closed Sicilian opening.

Immersed in thought and surrounded by smoke, I savor a fine cigar while contemplating my next move on the chessboard. This portrait captures a moment where strategy, calmness, and a hint of rebellion blend together — a game of kings played under a haze of fragrant smoke.

.Sidewalk strategies.

As the diners dine the chess board remains unattended and is waiting for the next contenders to step up and play.

It is a game of wits and strategy and players seem to walk around the 'board' at times for agonising minutes as they ponder and strategise over their next move.

The preliminary result of District Council election shows that the pro-democracy camp has got overwhelming victory and has taken over 90% of seats so far.

However the District Council is not an authority that has legal power in deciding the election system. The five demands asked by the protesters are not answered yet by the Hong Kong government.

It is very lickely the protests will not be ending soon and this will be a difficult game to play.

A candid street photo of a group of chess players who forget their chess games and watch the Internet translation of (let it be so) World Chess Championship with profound interest. They try to count up variations and finally make a group decision the Champion shall move the knight or the universe will implode. Black and white version.
