Cherry Creek Falls
Duvall, Washington

Cherry Creek Falls near Duvall, Washington, is a hidden autumn gem. The hike through the forest winds beneath golden maples and fiery red alder leaves before opening to a peaceful cascade tumbling into a clear pool. The sound of rushing water and the warm fall colors make it the perfect Pacific Northwest adventure.
Officially called the Smith-Roe House on the historical register, the stone house built circa 1800 by the Smith family later became the property of the prominent local Doctor Roe in 1841, who had married into the Smith family. The Kyle family then owned the property around the turn of the century when the place became known for it's fruit orchards and was called "Cherry Hill Farm." It was owned as a summer home after that, and then and then was the home of an architect as well before it was turned over to the government for a Dam/Reservoir project that never went forward. Cherry Hill Farm is empty and isolated now on an old gravel road and looks spooky and overgrown most of the time.

I saw these cherries on a tree in an orchard this morning. They look delicious already but I'm sure they are still pretty sour.
