The Château de Chenonceau is a castle near the small village of Chenonceaux, in the Indre-et-Loire département of the Loire Valley in France. It was built on the site of an old mill on the River Cher, sometime before its first mention in writing in the 11th century. The current manor was designed by the French Renaissance architect Philibert Delorme.
Between my Le Mans museum visit on Friday and the Paris Airshow on Sunday, I had some time to spare on Saturday.
There was this castle that I had on my list for a while and it was only 1.5 hours away from Le Mans. That was my Saturday destination: Château de Chenonceau.
How was it? It was not super spectacular. Much smaller than I imagined. Weather was great and it wasn't crowded early morning. Entrance was €15, parking was free. It was fine.
I went to visit another château this weekend! I went with the family of the two kids that I tutor, which was fun as they just wanted to run around a lot (and there was a lot of space for it!)
The castle itself is built over the River Cher which is pretty cool and each room had its own colour scheme and flower arrangements, it was beautiful!

The Château de Chenonceau is a French château spanning the River Cher, near the small village of Chenonceaux in the Indre-et-Loire département of the Loire Valley in France. It is one of the best-known châteaux of the Loire valley. We spent a very few enjoyable hours here but oh, so much walking around and it was a very warm day (plus a French public holiday so it was a tad busy but not as busy as it gets in the summer - it's the second most visited Château in France after Versailles apparently).
