The Trebant was a notoriously awful East German car (a sort of answer to the Volkswagen). They can still be seen driving around Berlin, spewing their noxious fumes, an ironic form of "Ostalgia".
Checkpoint Charlie (or "Checkpoint C") was the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War (1947ā1991), as named by the Western Allies.

C'est un endroit très émouvant car bien qu'il soit devenu une attraction touristique, on ne peut faire abstraction de ce qu'il représentait dans un passé pas bien lointain.
Situé juste à cÓté, le petit mémorial consacré aux jeunes gens morts en essayant de passer le mur permet de prendre conscience de cette réalité.
It is a very moving place although it became a touristic attraction, we cannot disregard what it represented in a close past.

Right down the block from Checkpoint Charlie is this currywurst kiosk. Currywurst is very popular in Berlin and there is even a museum dedicated to this delicacy.
