After the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc and the reunification of Germany, the building at Checkpoint Charlie became a tourist attraction.

*On October 27, 1961, combat-ready American and Soviet tanks faced off in Berlin at the U.S. Army\'s Checkpoint Charlie. Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union over access to the outpost city of Berlin and its Soviet-controlled eastern sector had increased to the point of direct military confrontation.

Checkpoint Charlie - Berlín - Alemania.

Berlin at night. Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous border crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War, is located at the intersection of Friedrichstrasse and Zimmerstrasse.

Vintage 1961 photo of Checkpoint Charlie seen in tourist area near the checkpoint and a museum about it. For 16 hours from October 27 to 28, 1961, US and Soviet tanks faced each other in divided Berlin in a cold-war confrontation.

Info: 'Checkpoint Charlie was Berlin’s best known crossing point between what was before 1990 communist East Berlin and the American-controlled sector of democratic West Berlin. In 1961, the East German government unexpectedly constructed a wall along its borders to restrict the flow of East Germans trying to permanently flee East Berlin.

Several checkpoints were erected, each laced heavily with barbed wire and carefully guarded by East German troops. They had instructions to shoot anyone trying to illegally cross over from East Berlin into West Berlin... In response to the East German Government sealing off East Berlin, the Americans built their own checkpoints. The three American checkpoints, Checkpoints A, B & C, were named using the phonetic alphabet. Checkpoint A was known as Checkpoint Alpha, Checkpoint B was Checkpoint Bravo and Checkpoint C was Checkpoint Charlie. Checkpoint Charlie was the most well-known of the three because it was the only checkpoint through which diplomatic personnel, American military and non-German visitors could pass into East Berlin.

Unlike the East German checkpoint border house and guards, the American checkpoints were not meant to restrict the movement of people between East and West Berlin. They were mainly there to inform people in no uncertain terms that once they crossed the checkpoint into East Berlin, they were no longer in a democratic society.' > freetoursbyfoot.com/checkpoint-charlie/

Who is the man in sunglasses, queuing to pass through checkpoint Charlie, about to leave the American sector and travel to East Berlin, why is he looking back and not forward, is he protecting his rear, nervous someone might be getting too close, why is he carrying that umbrella so carefully, and why is he also carrying what looks like workmans clothes but no suitcase, is the US Army car creating a distraction drawing border police attention away from pedestrian traffic, could there be a delicate mechanism concealed within the umbrella which needs carefully handling ? ? ?

Bulgarian umbrella is an umbrella with a hidden pneumatic mechanism. It has a hollowed stalk in which a miniature dart containing ricin is concealed, when triggered by a lever in the umbrella handle, compressed gas is released which projects the dart a distance of a few inches

Such an umbrella was used in and named for the assassination of the Bulgarian dissident writer Georgi Markov on 7 September 1978, but is believed to have been is use since the beginning of the Cold War

So I thought you guys deserved an update. I actually took down everything I had and started over, my tank, lav, humvee and Apache are gone and the special forces truck has been completely through a complete rebuild.

The special forces truck is inspired by @aleksander stein and @Brooklyn Builder, I really like it this way though I might rebuild the engine part and the cabine part.

For the transport truck, I just started building after getting inspired by the military trucks in Ghost Recon Wildlands. The only thing is I don't really have an idea what to build on the back of it.

Let me know what you think!

Also, I have added a camo to my Cobra and next to this, I have build an uav and a RHIB, hope to post more pictures more often and soon.

Checkpoint Charlie was a famous border crossing point in Berlin during the Cold War, separating East and West Berlin. It became a symbol of the divided city and tensions between the East and West. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Checkpoint Charlie lost its significance as a border crossing and became a tourist attraction.

The area around Checkpoint Charlie saw a rise in fast food restaurants and chains in the years following reunification. This was due to the increase in tourism and demand for quick and convenient meals in the area. Fast food restaurants such as McDonald's, KFC and Burger King opened branches near Checkpoint Charlie to cater to the influx of tourists and visitors. The rise of fast food in the area reflected the the increasing globalization of food culture.
