Beautiful sacred chapel built in the mount in Kolymbari, Crete near the Mother of God Monastary. A very sacred space, you felt in every breath you took. Worth the hike up the mountain. The views were incredible.

My latest MOC!

I wanted to experiment with rocks with rounded slopes, instead of just the straight ones. It ended up being a mix.

I also had fun playing with the waves. How do you make the water more lively?

And then the MOC itself. I incorporated some symbolism in it, feel free to indicate what symbolism you see in it!

Ein Blick von der Empore in die Kapelle

Established in 1881, this chapel was the first African American Methodist Church in Trenton. It was built on land donated by Mr. Fennell Sebree. Mr. Sebree was a prominent white businessman who was local to the area.

The church flourished during the 1900s. A book detailing the history of Todd County says that the church sponsored Easter services, had Sunday School classes and two choirs (junior and senior). The choir was recognized at one point in the Hopkinsville district for their outstanding performances. A pastorium was added during the early 1950s and the chapel interior was remodeled in the 1970s. Several members held leadership positions in the church for over fifty years.

Today the future of this church looks grim. It has been closed for about ten or fifteen years. The house next door is actively being demolished and it appears demo prep is being done on the chapel as well. Hopefully the piano out front is able to be salvaged.

Located on the left bank of the Sahy River, facing the bridge connecting the chapel to the village, its masonry construction dates back to the mid-20th century, and the courtyard in front is used for religious festivals.

The architecture is non-scholarly and built by the locals.

St Mary Magdalene, Newmarket Road, Barnwell, Cambridge

The former chapel of the Lazar Hospital of St Mary Magdalene, attached to Barnwell Priory. Used as a barn for centuries after the Reformation, it was restored in the late 19th Century and is in the care of an independent trust. It is used for occasional services by the parish of St Andrew the Less, and like its mother church it is never open.

The apparent rural setting is deceptive. The chapel sits directly beside the railway line roughly halfway between Cambridge main station and the soon-to-be-opened (May 2017) Cambridge North station. All around are edge-of-town retail parks, apartment blocks and hotels, but directly across the road is the structure that many people consider to be Cambridge's cathedral, the Abbey Stadium ground of Cambridge United FC.

The Chapel Falls Trail winds through a lush, storybook forest deep within the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, offering a serene gateway into the wild beauty of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The chapel downstairs, with its elaborate ceiling and stunning lighting was quite impressive.

Rosslyn Chapel, also known as the Collegiate Chapel of Saint Matthew, is a 15th-century Episcopal chapel located in the village of Roslin in Midlothian, Scotland. The chapel was founded by William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness with a ground-breaking ceremony in 1456. After the Scottish Reformation in 1560, it was largely abandoned but, following a visit by Queen Victoria, it was rededicated in 1862. It was the target of a bombing in 1914 during the suffragette bombing and arson campaign. The interior contains some fine carvings which many historians have sought to interpret.

Since the late 1980s, the chapel has been the subject of speculative theories concerning a connection with the Knights Templar and the Holy Grail, and Freemasonry. It was prominently featured in this role in Dan Brown's bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code (2003) and its 2006 film adaptation. Medieval historians say these accounts have no basis in fact. Rosslyn Chapel remains privately owned.
