Mark went fishing and caught a big snapper and kawahai (Australian Salmon), so he brought them around to our place to cook for dinner. The kawahai was smoked and the snapper poached.

Friday races of the Pacrim Yachting Challenge started with very little to no wind... But around 11:30 am it picked up a bit....

Robots were in action on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Penn State York when 35 teams of middle and high school students took part in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) South Central PA Regional Qualifier, a robotics competition. More than 500 attendees, including competitors, volunteers, and spectators attended the event. The winning alliance, comprised of three teams, were the Javengers from Enola, Pennsylvania; Cubix^3 from Hampstead, Maryland; and Sparks from Villanova, Pennsylvania. The finalist alliance, or second place winners, included Imagine It from Palmyra, Pennsylvania; Metal Works from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and GearHounds, from York, Pennsylvania. This was the seventh time the campus has hosted an FTC event.

Remember the etched lips? Well, I always wanted to do something with them, and the December challenge was just the thing to get me to pull them out again. The lips are mine, etched with ferric chloride into copper, and then the color is Sharpie marker colored on, and then slightly rubbed back off with steel wool. I haven't clear coated it yet because I wanted to get the picture, but I will use a Rustoleum clear coat to seal the color in. Also using this as my THAW #52-3!
