A pair of SD40-2s lead NS T10 south into Luttrell, Tennessee with 15 coal loads from Middlesboro, Kentucky.
This is a cropped SloMo from my Mission 1 Pro (GoPro) representing 17 cloud to group strikes originally taken at 240 fps. Each event had multiple return strokes from 3 to 14 returns. The original SloMo required 2.5 minutes to play but I reduced the time to just 30 sec to save on bandwidth.
This thunderstorm was unexpected at sunset after today's max temperature reached 92F (1st above 90F of the year).
Additional facts:
A typical cloud-to-ground flash contains 3–5 return strokes, although some flashes have only one stroke and others can have 20 or more.
The occurrence frequency of cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning flashes varies enormously depending on the storm type, location, and stage of storm development.
Typical ranges are:
Ordinary thunderstorms: often produce 1–10 CG flashes per minute.
Moderately active thunderstorms: may produce 10–30 CG flashes per minute.
Severe thunderstorms and supercells: can produce tens of CG flashes per minute, sometimes exceeding 50 CG flashes per minute during peak activity.

Part of the test printing for Common Ground which has a three month non-selling exhibition in the Southampton City Art Gallery during the winter of 2017/18.
I got this gorgeous cutie in the mail today. I traded my EBL bait girl with sammydoe for her, and I'm so glad I did! Means I didn't have to pay a cent... well, except for postage :P
Her face is done by vainilladolly, and gosh it is so cute in real life! I've always wanted a custom by her, and I'm so happy that I was able to get one... yay!
I think she looks a little bit like a cat, don't you? I'm wondering whether I should give her my LM scalp, and make her some cat ears and call her Kitty. ^^
This cloud to ground (CG) discharge was the last of a 15 minute period of strikes that saw just one lightning strike per minute on average. This frame was only 0.25s at f/5.6, iso 500, with focal length of 35mm cropped sensor. Fujifilm X-T3, 16-55mm f/2.8 lens in movie mode (4fps). This image was also cropped from original.

A bolt lands just a few miles away from my position near Vekol Valley on August 28th. Was a second one to the right that was sadly mostly off-camera, hence a nice vertical crop for this one! Thankful for this night as missing the past few days has been rough...I knew where I shoulda been yesterday, but went against my gut stupidly. Bumming today about it but that's how storm chasing is...ups and downs. Hopefully some good storm days coming up!
