I could not resist taking a picture of this very beautiful chandelier in Sheikh Zaid Mosque in Adu Dhabi. This mosque is considered the 3rd biggest after Haram-e-Makkah, Saudi Arabia and Blue Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey.
The grained version of this was too big to be uploaded on here so I had to settle for this one, still a nice shot (although I say so myself).
#Ceiling - A glass globe completely surrounds the bulbs except where it connects with the neck or mother, or a glass plate can sit under the bulbs. Either design allows light to shine upward, to some extent and drop ceiling lighting bouncing off the roof to provide light from multiple angles. These...
Glowing with gold and echoing with centuries of intellectual ambition, the oculus of the Library of Congress Main Reading Room captures the spirit of American enlightenment like no other architectural feature. This richly detailed ceiling, located in the heart of the Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington, DC, is one of the most awe-inspiring interiors in the United States.
Completed in 1897, the Jefferson Building is a celebration of neoclassical exuberance and the belief that beauty and knowledge should go hand in hand. At its literal and symbolic center is this breathtaking coffered dome, painted and gilded, culminating in a circular oculus that lets daylight pour through the structure’s pinnacle.
Around the oculus, allegorical figures representing Human Understanding, Justice, America, History, Philosophy, Poetry, Religion, and Science are arranged in a vibrant fresco, their flowing robes and serene faces painted in a muted, classical palette. Each figure is paired with a banner bearing virtues such as Love, Wisdom, Valor, Fame, Peace, and Freedom—a visual vocabulary of American civic ideals and cultural aspirations.
Seen from this low vantage point, the photograph emphasizes the dome’s vertical drama and geometric complexity. The layered coffers ripple outward from the oculus like a celestial mandala, each golden panel containing a floral rosette that echoes Renaissance ceilings in Florence and Rome. Yet this space is unmistakably American—its size, scale, and democratic purpose signal that it belongs not to a monarch, but to a people.
Reflected in the glass railing below is a silhouetted statue of Thomas Jefferson, his back turned as if contemplating the luminous knowledge housed all around him. The mirrored panels help frame the dome's curve while also reinforcing the sense that this space is meant for reflection, literally and metaphorically.
The dome rises nearly 160 feet above the floor of the Main Reading Room and is one of the most visually striking features of the Library’s Beaux-Arts architecture. Designed by Edward Pearce Casey and executed with stunning fidelity to classical principles, the room is meant to inspire reverence for learning and public service.
For many, walking into this room is like entering a cathedral of the mind—a secular sanctuary where beauty and knowledge are inseparably intertwined. Scholars, tourists, and students alike pause beneath this dome to look upward, mouths agape, momentarily transported by the sheer artistry and civic optimism overhead.
This photo captures that transformative experience: not just the architectural details, but the emotional and symbolic gravity of the space. The Library of Congress isn’t just the largest repository of knowledge in the world—it is one of the most beautiful, and this dome is its crown jewel.

DESIGN DETAILS
I've always enjoyed the shape of the Moravian star, so I have come out with a mini collection in the vein of a more fantasy / vintage look. For Syndicate Sunday I have 4 colourations of this type of style in ceiling pendant form and each pack comes with 12 lights. Basically you are getting 4 chain lengths in 3 overall light sizes so you can choose based on your ceiling height. The lights have an on/off touch function with subtle glow, full brightness, and ambient environmental lighting included to offer more realism. You can mix and match these as well for colour, size and lengths. These are an unique option if you are wanting a different light style in your space.

St Pancras International Station, London, England
This is an old photo that has been on my computer for over a year, just not been sure what to do with it until now. I've got it to the point where I am happy with it, I must have processed this photo a dozen times before this and not been content with it.
I would have liked the chap to walking in the middle and then would have almost perfect symmetry which I like in a photo but never mind.
What I liked about this was that he never even noticed me and I took 3 or 4 images and he just walked on by. This image is also synonymous of London as those who have been to London or commute in will know what I mean. Everyone is in such a hurry to get from A to B or busy sorting out their own days events they don't stop to take the time to look around. Its almost an unwritten rule on the Underground that you don't really talk to other passengers or commuters, just look down at your feet. :-)
Hope you enjoy this photo and once again thank you every one for taking time out of your day to come visit my photo stream and photos.

Information
St Pancras railway station, also known as London St Pancras and since 2007 as St Pancras International is a central London railway terminus celebrated for its Victorian architecture. The Grade I listed building stands on Euston Road in St Pancras, London Borough of Camden, between the British Library, King's Cross station and the Regent's Canal. It was opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway as the southern terminus of that company's main line, which connected London with the East Midlands and Yorkshire. When it opened, the arched Barlow train shed was the largest single-span roof in the world.
After escaping planned demolition in the 1960s, the complex was renovated and expanded during the 2000s at a cost of £800 million with a ceremony attended by the Queen and extensive publicity introducing it as a public space. A security-sealed terminal area was constructed for Eurostar services to Continental Europe—via High Speed 1 and the Channel Tunnel—along with platforms for domestic connections to the north and south-east of England. The restored station has 15 platforms, a shopping centre and a bus station, and is served by London Underground services from King's Cross St Pancras tube station. St Pancras is owned by London and Continental Railways, along with the adjacent urban regeneration area known as King's Cross Central, and is one of eighteen British stations managed by Network Rail. The redeveloped terminus has been described by the travel writer Simon Calder as "the world's most wonderful railway station".

The art deco style Foshay Tower, built in 1929, remains one of the tallest concrete skyscrapers to this day, second only in height to the Empire State Building in New York City. It's in downtown Minneapolis and stands out among all the modern glass and steel skyscrapers around it. The exterior is faced with Indiana limestone, while the interior features African Mahogany, Italian marble, terrazzo, gold-plated doorknobs, a silver and gold plated ceiling, ornamental bronze, hand wrought iron, and intricate ceiling lights.

No telling how many years this sat in my closet waiting to get the ladder and hang this. I decided it was easier to hang it in its original state and unbag it afterward. Worked fine, took some time to remove the tiny plastic bags covering each strand. I am looking for the perfect bulb now.
