Trójcy Świętej i św. Piotra.

Kościół jest pierwszą barokową kopułową budowlą Wiednia. W zwartej formie łączy zaskakująco przestrzenne, bogato zdobione wnętrze z prostokątnymi przybudówkami.

Kościół św. Piotra był ulubioną świątynią cesarzowej Elżbiety zwanej Sissi, małżonki Franciszka Józefa I.

Originally it was a Romanesque church built in the 12th century from granite and sandstone. The first mention of this church comes from Dlugosz's "Annals". It was repeatedly rebuilt, and traces of the Romanesque portal can be found in the southern wall. Around 1512, it was rebuilt in the late Gothic style. Burned by the Swedes in the early eighteenth century, rebuilt. Rococo interior furnishings from the 1st half of the 18th century, the image of the Mother of God with the Infant from the 17th century in the Baroque main altar. On the ceiling polychromy from the mid-nineteenth century. The church also has a late Gothic sculpture of the Mother of God and a stone baptismal font from the 16th century.

Parroquia de Alcoy | Santa Maria | Church interior | The Parish Church of Santa María de Alcoy is situated in the historic centre of Alcoy, in the Plaza de España. Neoclassical in style and built in the 18th century, its origins date back to the 13th century. The main façade is imposing and stands out for its neoclassical style with columns and pilasters, with two symmetrical bell towers flanking the façade. A large central rose window allows natural light to enter. There is a central dome over the transept, as well as side chapels between the buttresses. Its sober decoration is typical neoclassical, while its high altarpiece is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The church suffered major damage during the Spanish Civil War and had to be partially rebuilt. It is one of the most significant religious buildings in Alcoy and is still the centre of many religious and cultural celebrations in the city, including the famous Moors and Christians festivities.

Room of the Bacchantes

Room 12

This small room takes its name from the fresco in the centre of the ceiling, which depicts three women dancing within frames of ivy decorated all around by floral motifs, garlands, festoons, and musical instruments that recall the grotesques and stuccos of ancient Roman villas. Felice Giani (1758-1823) executed it between 1782 and 1785 as a reworking of the decorations of the Domus Aurea and Hadrian’s Villa, which he visited regularly. galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it/en/il-museo/la-villa/sa...

The ceiling at Wells Cathedral has the most exquisite patterns painted onto it, so simple, so delicate.
