This beautiful domed ceiling is in the shop Fat Face Bournemouth. Once it graced a restaurant at the same address in the early 20th Century. It is a hidden gem and absolutely beautiful. #Bournemouth #hiddengem #TheNewCadenaCafe
A staircase from the Tokyo National Museum, Japanese Gallery (Honkan). The exhibition was vast and interesting, but the architecture itself was nothing spectacular. However, the western neoclassical styled building has many interesting details, one being this. The black-and-white approach here is especially funky as the sides of staircase turn into light itself.

The ceilings of the rooms are still adorned with originally preserved colored French ceiling wallpapers:
In the 1st and 3rd rooms the "Toilet of Venus" is shown in the ceiling plan in a round center field. This motif from Roman mythology with four groups of putti in the corners on a dark blue background is surrounded by a classicist border.
Back in March, we called into the National Botanic Garden of Wales on our way back from visiting my parents. This magnificent structure is the largest single-span great glasshouse in the world & houses some of the most endangered plants on the planet; these come from six areas of the world: California, Australia, the Canary Islands, Chile, South Africa, the Mediterranean basin. This photo was taken on the upper level HWW & HFF!

At the end of the Hall of the Five Hundred a small windowless side room was held. This masterpiece, the Studio (Studiolo) of Francis I de Medici, was also designed by Vasari and executed in Mannerist style (1570-1575). The walls and vaults are completely covered with paintings, stucco and sculptures. Many of the paintings are from Vasari's school and represent the four elements: water, earth, air and fire. The portrait of Cosme I and his wife, Leonor de Toledo, was made by Agnolo Bronzino. The delicate bronze sculptures were built by Giambologna and Bartolomeo Ammannati. Dismantled over the centuries, they were rebuilt only in the twentieth century.

Parroquia de Alcoy | Santa Maria | Church interior | The Parish Church of Santa María de Alcoy is situated in the historic centre of Alcoy, in the Plaza de España. Neoclassical in style and built in the 18th century, its origins date back to the 13th century. The main façade is imposing and stands out for its neoclassical style with columns and pilasters, with two symmetrical bell towers flanking the façade. A large central rose window allows natural light to enter. There is a central dome over the transept, as well as side chapels between the buttresses. Its sober decoration is typical neoclassical, while its high altarpiece is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The church suffered major damage during the Spanish Civil War and had to be partially rebuilt. It is one of the most significant religious buildings in Alcoy and is still the centre of many religious and cultural celebrations in the city, including the famous Moors and Christians festivities.

Thanks for viewing the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis album:
The Christian part of the world famous Mezquita in Córdoba. I still feel grateful for getting to go here! Such impressive architecture.
This is the ceiling of the Great Hall in the Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building. I can't get enough of The Library of Congress. My love for this incredible building in DC is immense. I think it is perhaps more interesting than most of the nearby Smithsonian Museums, thanks to the incredible architecture, artwork, and many exhibits.
Though the Library was founded 1800, the Thomas Jefferson Building was opened in 1897 after a significant period of expansion following the Civil War.
