This Cedar Waxwing was seen near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It sports the red waxy tips of an adult on its wings — the feature referred to in the second part of the common name.

These beautiful birds have been somewhat of a nemesis for me - I quite often seen and photographed them but always at the top of trees and in terrible light, so I was very happy to find this one posing.

These birds are very frustrating. Had to delete tons of photos before getting one half-decent one. They are constantly flying back and forth from tree top to tree top, sometimes stopping momentarily to grab a berry from a nearby bush.

I did not get to see too nay of these elegant birds this season from up close. This was the closest I could get on a cloudy January morning at the Arb.
Blessings from the rain. About a dozen Cedar Waxwings dropped onto a rooftop near my apt to drink rainwater from the gutters.
