TThat's right -- it's an iPod and a CD player. Makes it easy for someone to spin their own disc or mixtape.
I just installed an iPod adapter from peripheralelectronics.com/.
This thing is awesome! It runs inline with your CD player. Push the CD button on your radio or steering wheel and listen to your iPod. Use the CD controls on the radio or steering wheel to control the iPod! Push the CD button one more time and listen to your CD player. I am running this in my 2000 TA convertible with factory radio. It took less than 1 hour to install. Simply pull the plastic faceplate away from the radio and A/C controls. Use a 7mm socket to unscrew the radio. Unplug the CD player from the back of the radio and plug in the ISGM73 module, then plug the CDplayer into the other socket in the module.
If your car came with the multi-disc CD changer instead of the single slot CD player you may lose your changer if you use this( read the documentation). I have the single slot CD player.
Also, the plug has a 12 foot cord!? Could come in handy if you want to hire a DJ to sit in the trunk ;-) I am just setting the iPod in the cup holder for now, but will look into mounting options so that it can be nearer the dash and radio.

And people wonder why I like CDs so much. I got this CD player basically the year before iPods took over the world. I never got to use it to it's full extent. These are some of the best speakers ever and a really good quality Stereo. I still use it randomly, sometimes instead of using my iPod speakers I hook my iPod up to these ones, or I put my 5 favorite CDs into the CD player and listen to them as loud as possible. It's really quite fun.

Awwww trusty old CD player. They feel like just a memory....lol. I don't think anyone uses them anymore and if you do let me know. Yes there is a CD player in the house but it doesn't get used. Just keep it around in case all the iPod's go missing. It makes me smile and yeah after I took this I listened to it for a bit. The CD is The White Stripes Elephant.
It's an old battered CD player that my housemate uses to play the Rocky training montage music whenever he goes TKD training.
Well, not really, but it sets a scene, right? (for the record my housemate does actually do TKD and will likely bury me for the above comment - so if this is my last 366 image then you know what's happened to me - I'll be under the back patio).
It actually doesn't belong to us at all, it just seemingly lives with us.
Cd players use lasers and a "lights on" lights off" pattern to produce the original sound found on the disc (Straubhaar & LaRose). According to Straubhaar and LaRose, they also provide more cpacity than other media in the past such as cassette tapes. CD players are not as popular today as they once were because of the invention of the IPOD and the portability that it offers. However they are still used in automobiles and in some clubs or bars.
