CC Week 41 is Storytelling
The world is a scary place for sea otters these days. I don't live far from the coast and, as luck would have it, this little sea otter has found a home in my garden. She tells me escargot is almost as tasty as abalone.

CC week 23: Something that doesn't belong
CC rainbow: Purple
Last year's lobelia seed found an unlikely place to sprout and grow. It doesn't belong here, won't grow very big, but will live long enough to produce and cast some seeds.

CC 40109 was involved in a special tour at the end of the career of class CC 40100. The engine came with a special Copef/GTF train to Welkenraedt in the east of Belgium. The CC 40109 paid even a visit to the station Aachen Hbf. None of the engines of the class ever visited Aachen or Germany in the regular service. The DB did not allow the engines of class CC 40100 in Germany.
After the CC 40109 had visited Aachen Hbf it returned to Welkenraedt in Belgium. A Belgian diesel took the consist (CC 40109 and coaches) from Welkenraedt to the yard of Montzen. At that time, the line between Welkenraedt and Montzen still had no overhead system. Once in Montzen the CC 40109 could again take power from the 3 kV overhead wire and hauled the train to Liège Guillemins, leaving the diesel behind. The picture shows the gorgeous engine leaving the yard of Montzen in the direction of Visé. This is probably the only time a CC 40100 engine has ever been using the Montzenroute.
To the right the track of the former railway line to Hombourg, Aubel and Herve.

Chicago Central & Pacific Railroad GP8 7992 near Carol Stream, Illinois on October 22, 1986, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built by GMD in Canada for the Quebec North Shore & Labrador as QNSL GP7 101 (c/n A411) on Order C151. It was rebuilt at Paducah, Kentucky during 1972, becoming ICG GP8 7992. On December 24, 1985, most of the ICG's Iowa Division became the Chicago Central & Pacific, and the CC acquired some of the ICG's rolling stock, including this locomotive (eventually renumbered to 1592) and trailing caboose 199523. The IC repurchased the CC in 1996 and operated it as a subsidiary until the IC itself was purchased by CN. The company continues to exist as a subsidiary of the Grand Trunk Corporation. At some point CC 7992/1592 became WATX 1592.
