One factor that distinguishes Petersburg from neighboring Ketchikan and Juneau is the inability of enormous cruise ships to enter its harbor. Depending on one's viewpoint, this may be good or bad, but it provides an opportunity for small vessels such as the Catalyst, whose home is Friday Harbor. I talked with one of the crew and found that it was built in 1932 and runs 7-day cruises for about a dozen passengers.
MEKP catalyst is a solution of methyl ethyl ketone peroxides and cumyl hydroperoxide in phlegmatizer. MEKP is a liquid polymerization initiator for the room temperature cure of specialized unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins with the following advantages/properties. It is typically used between 1.25% to 1.75% (1 2/3 ounce to 2 1/3 ounces per gallon). Resins that have Duratec in their name require a 2% mix ratio (2 2/3 ounces per gallon).
