As part of FutureEverything, the Patchworks team came together to explore the perils and possibilities of self-exploration through hacking, homebrew electronics and hands-on biostatistics. Is the “quantified self” a new means of empowerment or the first steps towards a dystopian, spreadsheet driven vision of the future?
Patchworks is a research collaboration between the community support group, Signposts, MadLab and Lancaster University exploring the health and communication needs of homeless people through the co-design of prototype tools using cheap, open source technology.
Patchworks is part of Catalyst, a multidisciplinary research project engaging community groups and academics to envision and build next-generation tools to facilitate social change.
