Made it back from a lovely trip to Central Oregon today. While my friend, Liza, carpooled with a couple of other friends on the way down, she had the pleasure of riding w/me on the way home. That meant that she got to stop at a few places twice- since we took different routes there and I wanted to take a "new" way home. Here, we're checking out the fossil beds from a lookout a smidge north of Spray, Oregon.

Trent and I carpooled, so when I headed out to my meeting I left him a little note.

I actually was a passenger for this one. Yay carpooling!

Lots of cars in the parking lot out at Pleasant Valley Park for the Alcoa Serve-a-Thon. Some of the Volunteers even parked at another lot down the road and carpooled up to the event.

Save your money. Instead of taking the car to work, do things that save money like walking to work, working at home,

We met at Neptune's Net on PCH before carpooling to the trailhead. Lots of people showing off their cars and motorcycles, like at Newcomb Ranch on the Angeles Crest Highway.

We went to the Emerson Art Museum an hour or so away, the trip was rather interesting. Alfred carpooled with me and payed for the parking price and my lunch.

We had to find two pieces we like and two we dislike, and draw a sketch of them and write about them.

Ug. Got up way too early, carpooled up to LA for a day of meetings (thankfully more technical than business), and wound up 10 hours into the workweek without blinking. (Also spent the whole day just this side of exhausted.) Got home, made a nice dinner, and walked over to a friend's apartment nearby to run an errand. Took the opportunity to grab a shot or two.

Post and run tonight, much as I love the little bit of friend-stream that I've looked at, sleep is telling me that it is WAY important right now. I'll be by tomorrow for sure.

I probably forgot to mention my name.. I am Juanita Jackson. I've been teaching music in MUSD for about 8 years. I got my credential in 1985, but spent most of the last number of years raising my 3 girls. I spent some time homeschooling and a lot of time carpooling! In 2003 they needed a long term sub traveling from school to school in elementary music and in 2004 they hired me. I needed to be categorized as "highly qualified" within 2 years, so that's when I decided to do my Masters at APU in Ed Tech. That was a lot of hard work, and also a blast!

Above is my violin (the same one as the previous picture) and my viola.

"I try not to use my car as much. Whether that means taking the bus or carpooling."

We got an unexpected box in the mail today ... Bedazzled Huskies t-shirt on a mannequin. Friends that are Oregon Ducks fans thought they were pretty funny! I wondered if this considered me carpooling??

As you may have heard, the FCC is intent on gutting the net neutrality protections that keep the internet free from censorship, throttling, and extra fees, and companies like Comcast and Verizon are pushing hard for Congress to pass legislation that would make this permanent. The single most effective way to stop this from happening is for as many of us as possible to meet directly with our members of Congress to show them there is widespread support for Title II net neutrality rules. To do this, Fight for the Future, EFF, Public Knowledge, and other groups are organizing Internet users from all over the country to travel to DC on September 26 - 27 to meet face to face with Senators and Representatives. Participants will be able to attend a training on how to make these meetings effective, and will be paired with a guide to show where to go on Capitol Hill.To make sure people can make it our, we are funding a limited number of travel stipends for people to fly out or taking public transit to DC. To apply for a travel stipend, and learn more about our day of advocacy, check out our site. Also, If you are planning to drive there or need a ride, you should check out our carpooling thread over at /r/KeepOurNetFree.Net neutrality is the basic principle that has made the Internet into what it is today. It protects free expression and innovation by preventing ISPs like Verizon and AT&T, from controlling what we can see and do online. The only thing that can stop them is a coordinated grassroots effort of constituents directly pressuring our members of Congress, who have the power to stop the FCC and vote down bad legislation. Please, Join us in DC and show congress that the internet needs to stay open and free. via /r/EarthPorn ift.tt/2xi2wKU

The tour was very casual, informative, but easy going. There was an Elf reference.

I definitely recommend it if you happen to be in Billings. It's $10 for adults, $5 for students, and really, it's worth it. With the Sword's Park tour, you get the added advantage of a great view of the city. The carpooling thing was a little unusual, but it worked!
