Due to the weather my roommate and I carpooled to work on 09 December, and on the way her car had a flat tire on the entrance ramp to I670 East.
While stuck there I had a rare opportunity to capture the city from an angle not usually seen. More of that later.

I did call him, which got me involved in a New York fandom group called Fistfa. We met on Friday nights (every other Friday night, as I recall), and spent the evening passing around prozines, semiprozines, fanzines, and in my case story manuscripts. At around 1AM we carpooled to Chinatown, where we descended on Wo Hop -- literally, because it was in a basement at the time. (It no longer is, and I was excited to see it shown briefly in the movie Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock.)
We continued to pass literature around our large table at Wo Hop, along with Chinese food and glasses of tea that we gathered on large trays. I usually got home between 3 and 5 on Saturday morning.

Expanding the Circular Economy
Environment and Climate Change
A circular economy offers the opportunity to disrupt the way we produce, consume, and reuse products, reducing both the extraction of raw materials and the waste that goes to landfill. These circular models are increasingly attractive to companies around the world and have the potential to generate a total of $1 trillion a year for the global economy by 2025. Furthermore, the departure from individual ownership models to shared economy solutions, such as carpooling and co-working spaces, can support a broader shift in consumption behaviors. In this session, panelists and CGI U commitment-makers will explore how to:
• Leverage innovation in recycling technologies to enable production of high-quality, affordable, and sustainable products.
• Reduce our ecological footprint by sourcing materials in regenerative loops rather than linear flows.
• Maximize impact through sustainable design and biomimicry—studying nature’s models to address human-made challenges.
Cars lined up at the Brookland Park Shell station during the 1970s gas crisis. When a gas station actually had gasoline, it went for a historic high of 55 cents per gallon. The term "Don't be fuelish" was coined to encourage fuel rationing and carpooling

A co-worker gave this sticker to me because she felt she couldn't morally affix it to her vehicle, as she doesn't carpool (though she says her Mini does get just as good of gas mileage as the Civ).
I felt especially righteous this morning barreling down I-24 in the HOV lane because in addition to Ian and I in the Civ, we also carpooled with a friend of ours who works off Briley Parkway.
SO BITE ME, you SUV-driving, non-carpooling asshats in my way!!!
September 5
Is it September 5th already?! Emily and I have officially been together for seven years now. SEVEN YEARS?! Do I even know this chick at all yet? I don’t even know if I’m ready to commit to a long-term relationship with this lady? I guess I’ll wing it and hope for the best.
OK FINE. Thanks for being my BFF and always being there and being so freakin’ cool. I’m glad we get to hang all the time and that you’re not into stupid stuff and that you’re not annoying, and that you are super fun while simultaneously hating fun as a concept. I have decided to continue seeing how this plays out. <3
We had a nice lunch at Remedy, where I had some of the best chicken and waffles ever. The waffles were perfect, the chicken was crispy and covered in berries soaked in something. On the side it had syrup in one container and some weird white stuff in the other container. At first I thought it might be butter or cream, but after a few bites I figured it out. Icing. Read that again. ICING.
Treavor celebrated his birthday today too, so Emily and I carpooled with David to Carrollton for some delicious Korean food. Everyone else there was a former coworker of Treavor’s. We didn’t know any of them, but they were all super cool people so it was easy. Overall, it was a fun day with expensive food.
A meandering all-day social climb up the First Flatiron organized by Rom McGuffin. We had two ropes, but even so, with eight people things go slowly. Ironically because the meetup was in S. Boulder, I rode all the way down there, and then we "carpooled" back to Chautauqua, in Football traffic, climbed (we could hear the stadium from up on high) and then "carpooled" back to S. Boulder, where I got on my bike and rode home (unimpeded by said traffic). Tons of people up on the rocks, many without gear. Beautiful day. And I got to practice listening to Russian!

Day 231, Aug. 19: Spotted this shattered safety glass sparkling in the sunlight. Found by my car in the park and ride parking lot. This is the second day of carpooling. It's an adjustment (I have to get up earlier), but will be good I think. And the money saved may just help fund a new camera.

(18/365) Just like any other normal day today. Went to school, and then carpooled with Cathy back home. Dropped her off to Tommy's house, stopped by Tapioca Express and got my siblings some drinks. Took a quick nap and then started to do homework which I just finished about 15 minutes ago. Homework, work, and other things are starting to pile up so it's time for me to get on it and stop procrastinating! Oh, and I posted a picture of my glasses today because I think my eyesight is getting worse. I've been needing to use them more often now and it sucks. I hate wearing my glasses!

Not wanting to admonish people for driving, MIM was looking instead to encourage them to change their behavior and use sustainable transportation just one day a week. Our "See Commuting Differently" campaign has helped them get scores of new people to take to bikes, carpooling, buses, walking and vanpools. Bus ridership alone has risen 16% since the campaign began, membership in MIM's member log on group, the Way To Go! Club, has grown exponentially and visits to the website have nearly doubled.

J.D. Power ratings certainly are a very handy guide for selecting an auto insurance carrier. Theme Of The Week - Monochromatic Maniacs
The story of my cow skull. When I lived in Arizona, my boss and I carpooled. One day, as we were hurtling through the desert at breakneck speeds, we saw a cow on the side of the road that had been hit and killed by a semi-truck. I said it would be neat to have a cow skull to hang on the wall. He said he would put a chainsaw in the trunk and we would decapitate it the next day. I told him that a chainsaw would make too much of a mess and that an ax would be a more logical choice. I also said that we should wait a couple of days for the 115 degree heat to dry it out a little more; wait for it to become cow jerky. Well, two days later, and after many debates on the best way to decapitate a cow, we pulled over to find that someone else had beat us to it (and used an ax).
A few months ago, my old boss calls me up and asks if I had gotten the package he had FedEx-ed to me. I said no. It turns out that he had sent it to the Duplex of Doom™ instead of Chez Satellite™. So I call FedEx and they say that it had been delivered; I drive over to the duplex, and it was not there. I call FedEx back and they tell me the address that it had been delivered to; the same house number but the other end of the street, on the other side of town. Then they say that the people in that house had called them and it had been picked up again. To make a long story somewhat shorter, it finally got to me. Inside was this skull! It’s a nice one too; no bullet holes.

It’s bad enough some of them have to take off work, or use precious vacation days for the program, however it works and it vital to healing in the family especially. Missoula In Motion (MIM) exists to promote sustainable alternatives to one person - one car commuting.
