About 20 people biked from South Royalton 40 miles to Montpelier, VT. About 60 total carpooled and biked to Montpelier from South Royalton.

Once again this year, Sissa hosted the traditional Welcome Day to welcome new students and publicly present its activities. The event provided an opportunity to make an assessment of the past year's work, to award a number of students and staff members for their achievements and to introduce the latest projects, like this year's Sissa Carpooling.

It happens every year. We gather together, drink mint juleps, talk shit and catch up. And for me, its my guaranteed annual meetup with my friend Eric Z. We met at my very first job right after moving to Philly fifteen years ago. As it turned out, our apartments were only a block apart in Old City, and shortly thereafter, we started carpooling back and forth on the reverse commute to work in NJ getting to be really good friends across many miles. That friendship's lasted long after the job did, but I can still count on Z to give me design tips and guide me in the right diretion for all things web. And once a year, I can depend on Eric Z to help me pick which horse to put my money on for the Kentucky Derby.

Expanding the Circular Economy

Environment and Climate Change

A circular economy offers the opportunity to disrupt the way we produce, consume, and reuse products, reducing both the extraction of raw materials and the waste that goes to landfill. These circular models are increasingly attractive to companies around the world and have the potential to generate a total of $1 trillion a year for the global economy by 2025. Furthermore, the departure from individual ownership models to shared economy solutions, such as carpooling and co-working spaces, can support a broader shift in consumption behaviors. In this session, panelists and CGI U commitment-makers will explore how to:

• Leverage innovation in recycling technologies to enable production of high-quality, affordable, and sustainable products.

• Reduce our ecological footprint by sourcing materials in regenerative loops rather than linear flows.

• Maximize impact through sustainable design and biomimicry—studying nature’s models to address human-made challenges.

Posing in the datacenter room of Texas.Net's San Antonio offices in 1996.

We carpooled 75 miles to SA every day until the Austin offices and facility opened.

I left Texas.Net in 1998, but had a lot of fun working there.

HunHun stayed home that day to rest from the hospital stay and surgery, but I was at work at the norm time of 645a & Tuesday I was prepping everyone at home, lunches and carpooling the hubs to work which makes my 45 min drive into a bit over an hour. So yea.. milk and cookies after dinner, please.

In late October Samantha and I needed to begin planning our north shore brewery trip with our friends Megan and Mitch. There was no better place than F-Town Beer Company, one of the many newly opened breweries of 2015. I had heard good things about them, so after meeting up and carpooling we headed down the interstate to Faribault, MN.

Listen to our Children

"They are young, but wise. Children's voices can be heard around the world in a multitude of languages, all speaking the same message: Stop global warming! ¡Paren el calentamiento global! From Kenya to Kazakhstan, youngsters are leading the way by recycling, replanting, and reminding us that solutions are simple enough for even a child to understand."

"Kids are gathering kitchen waste for composting in India, creating energy conservation posters in Norway, and helping plant 250,000 trees in Lebanon. In an international classroom project, global warming solutions listed by children from 20 countries included carpooling, turning off lights, taking oral or online exams to save paper, and holding a solar oven bake sale to benefit environmental groups. This globe displays artwork sent in by children around the world and illustrates their ideas for solving global warming."

"Children are speaking out-- let's listen!"

what does this guy do when it's HIS day to drive?

When I was at college I lived on the same floor as Tina. Tina is so sweet and she is from the country and she is the youngest of three girls and I really wanted to be good friends with her. Lo and behold this year we randomly join the same football team and find out we live 2 minutes from one another so we started carpooling. Carpooling with Tina has been one of the highlights of footy! It has been so fun getting to know her better and she is so kind and encouraging and has helped me be more confident as a player. Tina is just the best!

It’s 7:15 a.m. on April 5, 2076. You need to get across town to drop your daughter off at hologram school and get to work at the Ministry of Truth. Do you set off in your personal flying vehicle with voice activated locks and antigravity chairs? Definitely not. The future of transportation holds many more options. In this future, owning your own vehicle will be obsolete, as there will be no need for a dedicated vehicle in your hover driveway when you can instantly and effortlessly summon a driverless transport vehicle and set off. Along your route, other commuters join you based on their location and destination.

USC Viterbi Professor Maged Dessouky is at the forefront of transportation technology. With funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation, he is finding ways to optimize ridesharing algorithms and shares his valuable research with the next wave of transportation companies such as Carma (formerly Avego) and Sidecar at USC Viterbi-hosted conferences.

While today we choose among driving alone, carpooling, taking the metro, walking or biking, commuters of the future will have the luxury of choosing among various automated transportation modes. Driverless cars and computer programs that optimize complex ridesharing networks will make personal vehicles, traffic jams, energy waste and automobile accidents relics of the past, nothing but a story that commuters tell each other as they socialize, nap and read while they are whisked from place to place. —KM

Polo Match- Barn Workshop- Military Veteran Fundraiser

Aug 12-13th Bettendorf IA, Quad Cities Area

This workshop is a fund raiser for , a 501(c)(3) and will take place at the Quad Cities Polo Club and surrounding area on August 12 and 13th, The tour will consist of premium access to photograph the horses before and during the polo match on Saturday afternoon, a group dinner, an overnight stay in a local hotel and a barn or horse barn photographic workshop inside three barns the next morning.

The price for this workshop is $100 and is entirely tax deductible as Keith and Tony are donating all their fees to the not-for-profit and the gate for the match has been waived. The fee covers admission to the polo field and the guided barn workshop the next day. The only out of pocket will be gas and tolls, dinner and the hotel room that will be reserved for you. We will spend a maximum of 1 hour at each barn, giving time to shoot and get individual instruction. We will suggest and help arrange carpooling. The group would be capped at 20 people.

Upon registration you will receive the exact location, parking instructions, photography gear recommendations, and any other vital information to make this a fun, comfortable learning experience. Since this is the first time for the Polo Field hosting such an event, and the first time photographing here, we don’t have any good photos of what you can expect. However, imagine the polo match, riders in colorful silks, horses braided with colorful ribbons, and the match itself with horses flexing, and straining, showing off their power and flexibility. Then Sunday morning we’ll offer exclusive entrance to private barns near the polo grounds with all of it’s textures, and patterns, livestock, fencing, and so many other artful opportunities.

Operation Horses and Heroes is a 501(c)(3) Not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide healing and wellbeing to military veterans and active duty suffering from the effects of PTSD, and other traumatic brain injuries through the proven concept of Equestrian Psychotherapy. It is not horseback riding lessons, in fact it is rare if any of the participants in the program actually mount a horse. It’s more about providing our veterans with a scenario requiring them to work with the horse to accomplish a task under the watchful eye of a highly trained and credentialed Equine Psychotherapist. Using cues from the horse the therapist can establish “tells” about the veteran and use that information to help them understand their PTSD and provide ways to cope with it, or work through it in everyday life situations.

OHH is not funded by any government organization and relies entirely on donations, volunteers, and the support of everyday people like you. We have so far successfully held our 3 and 4 day programs in various locations around the US without it costing our dedicated military men and women any money. It’s bad enough some of them have to take off work, or use precious vacation days for the program, however it works and it vital to healing in the family especially. Campaign to make the public aware of carpooling and its benefits.

Even though Earth Day is not until this weekend, the company I work for decided to do an awareness day where we could dress down if we carpooled, took the bus or rode our bicycle to work. They wanted everyone to take a photo of themselves doing whatever activity they did to get to work and email it to someone so we could share the day with everyone.

I figured that since I am a photographer, I might as well make sure my photo was a cut above! I havent done a self portrait in a while, so I thought it was a good idea to do one this morning.

A quick set up and shoot before work, probably took less than five minutes. Flash fired into an umbrella camera right, some sunlight coming from camera left.

Ran into an old friend, Linda Merwin, at Chuck E. Cheese. Linda and I go way back... from days at Nursery school, and our moms carpooled. In High School, we were both in the band, and very good friends. It was nice to see her.

Unloading Matt's nearly impossibly full truck. Matt and I carpooled up from Houston, so we had to get all of our stuff in the same vehicle. I can't believe we fit it all in there.

Greenwich Country Day School Sustainability Director Laura di Bonaventura, center, helps students participating in "Tiger Rides" find their school buses at Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Conn., Friday, April 21, 2017. Tiger Rides is a Greenwich Country Day School program designed to encourage bus riding and carpooling for a better environment.

When my classics professor schlepped my Greek class off to see The Greeks, I had no idea what was in store for me.

As we walked into the theatre, I looked over the bulletin board of headshots, checking to see if there were any good-looking guys in the show. I was stunned to see Marc Alaimo's name and photo - he played Gul Dukat, one of my all-time favorite "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" characters! I bounced up and down and poked my friends, but none of them knew who he was.

Once inside the theatre, we had a long, tense wait as we learned that the show might have to be cancelled because one of the actors was late. Thankfully, the show managed to go on. Alaimo was, of course, brilliant, and I knew I had to get his autograph somehow.

After the show, I told the friend who had carpooled with me that she'd just have to wait, and I stationed myself in the lobby. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally asked an usher-type if Alaimo was still around. The usher-type said he'd go find him, and eventually returned with him!

I managed to be remarkably coherent, and we had a wonderful little conversation. I said that I'd loved his work on DS9 (to which he replied, in his Dukat voice, Ah... Dukat!) and asked for his autograph. He very graciously gave it to me, complimented my name, and even (!) gave me a kiss on the cheek.

There are advantages to being a nicely-dressed college coed.

I gave him a kiss on the cheek too, and said goodnight. I walked sedately out of the lobby, and lept off the front steps of the theatre with a cry of "YES!" My waiting friend said I was insane, and when I got back to the dorm and regaled a friend down the hall with the story, she dubbed me Überfan.

I was the first of three riders and we were all a little confused about how many potential riders there could be, how far out of our way we'd be going, who would be dropped off first and how the fare would be split if we're all starting and ending at different locations. We did conclude that we saved some money, lost some time and our driver had to work harder with all the intermediate pickups and drop offs. Watch video interview and ride here

Due to the weather my roommate and I carpooled to work on 09 December, and on the way her car had a flat tire on the entrance ramp to I670 East.

While stuck there I had a rare opportunity to capture the city from an angle not usually seen. More of that later.
