Taken at Penambol Conservation Park near Mt Gambier.
The Sinkhole or Cenote is formed over many years of water erosion in the limestone bedrock.
Rain water which is slightly acidic seeps into the ground and dissolve the limestone along lines of weakness.
As the limestone continue to dissolve, the horizontal and vertical weakness developed into a cave.
Over time the size of the cave becomes bigger as the weakend limestones collapsed under their own weight.
Eventually the cave enlarged to a point that its roof could not be supported.
The collapsed of this surface material created the geological
feature called a Cenote or Sinkhole.

Caroline Church and Cemetery is a historic Episcopal church and cemetery and also a national historic district at the junction of Dyke and Bates Roads in Setauket, Suffolk County, New York. The church was built in 1729 and is a three-by-four-bay, heavy timber-framed, 42 by 30 foot building sheathed in wood shingles and covered by a gable roof. It features a 42-foot tower surmounted by a 25-foot spire. The complex also includes the parish house, built in 1905, and a barn built in 1893. The cemetery was established in 1734.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
Met up with the Port Jefferson Photography Club at this church and cemetery... we had to use a fixed focal lens, which wasn't that easy...

Caroline was busy in the pit area at a local Motor Bike sand Racing meeting. We got chatting and Caroline told me about how she was a fairly recent devotee to sand Racing. Our Wednesday day out was to see our (Flickr) friend Caroline and her husband. It was so good to see them, their lovely house and garden again.
(Sorry I've been absent from commenting and replying most of this week - friends that know me well guessed I had a migraine and they were right! This was a particularly rotten one with sickness all day Wednesday - they seem to happen about twice a year to this degree, the last one being when I had my first Covid jab - purely a coincidence. I'm not completely out of the woods yet, but a lot better than I was. Will catch up with you all over the next few days.)

37402 was out again with the observation coach Caroline the other day. Looking very smart the pair are seen nearing Milford Junction as they head west early on in their itinerary. This shot nearly didn’t come off as thirty seconds earlier another pair of 37’s hauling the Scarborough Soa Express has passed in the opposite direction.

Took a chance to try to shake off a horrible cold with some fresh sea air at Cleveleys, and as storm 'Caroline' was approaching the UK the time seemed right. Spent a good 90 minutes trying - and mainly failing - to keep salt water off the lens but managed to grab a couple of Rachael Talibart -style wave shots.
A couple of minutes after capturing this one I was drenched to the skin by icy seawater as a rogue wave came right over the top of the sea wall while my back was turned. So much for getting rid of my cold!
