Palawan Peacock-pheasant at Weltvogelpark Walsrode.
Faisán espolonero de Palawan en el Weltvogelpark Walsrode.
This close shot was not a heroic deed of mine it was from a show in thailand where the tiger was kept for show. The animal acted like it knew nothing of what it was really capable of. Majestic yet pitiful
A pathway leading to a meeting area at an abandoned FARC camp. Over time the prisoners learned to read the FARC's construction habits to help them figure out how long they would be stayig at a given camp. The more construction that occurred, the longer their stay might be.
Noble Solitude at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago - Primate Exhibit
As I mentioned in the Baby Gorilla photo, this zoo does their best to make these exhibits comfortable by keeping the animals occupied and interested. The chimpanzee exhibit has both an indoor and an outdoor portion. We observed them indoors, they seemed thoughtful and calm. While I observed the outdoor exhibit, however, these primates came to life. The one pictured here walked outdoors and made a powerful yet graceful sprint around the grounds before scampering to the perched position you see here.
My brother and I sat there in awe. Picture of power, grace, coordination, focus, balance, and playfulness.
While there were some nights they slept on the ground, this photo is a good representation of one type of bed Gonsalves and the other hostages had. The frame is made of young trees cut apart with machetes.

Knut (* 5 December 2006) is a polar bear who was born in captivity at the Zoologischer Garten Berlin. Rejected by his mother at birth, he was subsequently raised by zookeepers.
Knut became the center of a mass media phenomenon dubbed "Knutmania" that spanned the globe and quickly spawned numerous toys, media specials, DVDs, and books. Because of this, the cub was largely responsible for a significant increase in revenue, estimated at about five million euros, at the Berlin Zoo in 2007.
Berlin Bears (Polar Bear Knut, Brown Bear, Black Bear, Giant Panda) - there are some more bears in my stream from Berlin Zoological Garden.
An upright grunting bear is the animal of coats of arms and seals of the CIty of Berlin. But why?
How or why Berlin's citizens chose the bear remains unknown. Most likely they were thinking of Albrecht I, nicknamed "the bear", who is considered to have been the conqueror and founder of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. Another possibility is that Berliners decided on "speaking" arms since the first syllable of Berlin sounds like "Bär" (bear), although the two are not etymologically related. In medieval times "speaking" or canting arms were a favorite; people tried to depict names by use of phonetically similar symbols or rebuses.
all those moments captured in these rolls ...
